Kids HB Vaccination

3 Kids tested negative but no anti-HB immunity level & one with 52 mIU/mML

Qs :

i) 3 kids currently go for 3 shots full vaccination - when will be the best time to measure the anti-HB level? Completed 1st shot 2 wks ago.

ii) 1 w/ 52 mIU/mML, dr suggeted no booster and safe. Should I send him for booster shot.

P/S : remember reading research paper saying majority of kids having undetected anti-HB after 5 years of vacc but they are still protected due to memory effects.

Thanks

In this case people can have a booster shot.  This area is vague:  some say immunity is for life, some say for 13 years, 20 years, etc.

I hv seen the level of anti-HB level dropped from 20+ to negative within 8 yrs (data from my friend).....my worry is the level continue to drop and the immunity level will weaken....

3 of my four children have positive anti-HBs, 1 is HBsAg negative and anti-HBs negative despite the fact he had all three shots 7 years ago.  Per zellyf's advice, that child is getting his second 3 shots so that test for anti-HBs can be done 1-2 months after the third shot.

>>>i) 3 kids currently go for 3 shots full vaccination - when will be the best time to measure the anti-HB level? Completed 1st shot 2 wks ago.

Measure it 1-2 months after the last shot.

>10 mIU/mML is considered having antibody.
