Liver pain after eating onions

I had an omelet with a generous amount of onions in it yesterday, within a couple of hours i had a pretty intense liver pain that lasted through the night and I'm still feeling it today. From reading online onions and garlic are great detoxifiers and good for the liver. Could it be a sign of a detox? Thank you!

the most simple thing to do is a fibroscan and then you will know how your liver is, if you have to worry about hbv and by 2 readings 6months apart the trend of the disease

as for most people you have probably general inflammation, especially in the gut, due to quality of food and vitamin d deficiency:
check vitd25oh and intact pth, on hbver vit d is universally low
add probiotics to your diet, bifidus home made is the best to help gut
if you eat processed foods full of chemicals, change to fresh organic food with zero chemicals

actually those not knowing die after they lived most of their life anyway, both cirrhosis and hcc happen after 50yo, before then you live normally even with hbv

cirrhosis is so silent that autopsy found cirrhosis in centenarios dead of other causes

hbv is such an easy disease, you take antivirals, eat healthy and can go on with your life

actually those not knowing die

hepatitis diseases are called silent killers you only feel it while dying/close to death.both cirrhosis and liver cancer are silent as symptoms and can be even totally silent to blood tests

cirrhosis: you get it from fibroscan
liver cancer from ultrasound

is it possible then that some of us can feel the pain while others don't? like Stephen mentioned above liver inflammation due to hepatitis can stretch the liver capsule thus cause the pain? In my case I always feel it when my ALT goes up.

Liver pain: Pain coming from the liver. The liver does not contain nerve fibers that sense pain. Therefore, liver tissue can be cut, burned, or compressed without causing pain. There are pain fibers, however, in the liver's capsule, a thin layer of tissue that surrounds the liver tissue itself. The pain fibers of the capsule are stimulated when the capsule is stretched. Thus anything that stretches the capsule can cause liver pain. The common liver diseases that stretch the capsule are tumors that grow within the liver and inflammation of the liver that occurs, for example, with hepatitis of any cause. In the latter case, an accumulation of inflammatory cells and fluid within the liver is what stretches the capsule. The bile ducts that carry bile from the liver to the gallbladder and intestine as well as the gallbladder, also are surrounded by a thin layer of tissue that senses pain when it is stretched. Thus, stretching of the ducts due to problems within the ducts can lead to pain that may be difficult to distinguish from stretching of the capsule of the liver.

I don't have any reflux problems but it might possibly be the gallbladder since it is so close to the liver. I couldn't even touch that area since it was very tender. Thank you.

Whenever my ALT levels go up high i always feel upper right side pain, it has been confirmed with my blood tests.
I was diagnosed with HBV based on my liver pain as well. So it does exist or we would all be dying of HBV or liver cancer and not even know it since we can't feel it right?

I believe you are experience reflux or other gastro issues from the onions.  Due to our anatomy placement it's easy to attribute GI issues to be the liver.  Your liver is not the issue and pain is caused by intestines, gas, reflux, gallbladder, stomach, esophagus, etc.

If onions or garlic make you feel bad either avoid them or take an antacid, this should do it.  I have GI issues and my system does not easily tolerate lots of garlic, onion, or broccoli, even though I love them all.  I've learned I can tolerate them for lunch but if I eat them for dinner I pay.  Also, keep a food diary and this will help you figure out what to avoid and when.

the liver can feel no pain, it has no nerves, the pain is from surrounding organs and you have to look for them not liver
