Living With HEP B

Friends,

I have Hep B from last four years and currently under medication. Now i am going to my brothers place where i will be staying with him and his wife. Now the question i have is will i spread this virus to them by staying with them?
Is it safe  to live with them because i dont want to spread this virus to them.

If i can stay with them what all precautionary measures should i/they take to safeguard them.

Note that they both have completed two shots of hepB vaccine will that help in anyway or it will be efective only after compliting 3 shots?

Please help me any advice/inputs on this will be greatly appriciated.

Thanks!

No, there is no gaurantee that vaccination will produce antibodies in everyone. There is 5-10% population, who do not respond to vaccination.

It is safe to get tested for HBsAB after 3-6 months of final shot.

Thank you that will definitely give me some confidence.Btw is it mandatory to get Tested for HBSAB after completing 3 shots of vaccination. Or its garunteed that HBsAB status will be positive after 3 shots of vaccination.

I assumed they got their first 2 shots a long time ago, and had stopped the course.

I don't think your last question can be answered with any confidence without knowing their HBsAb status. It might make you feel better to know that I have been staying with my (then) unvaccinated family for several years before I was detected HBsAg+, sharing nail-clippers, etc. They are all HepB free.

Sharp,

Thank you for the guidence.

I dont think they need to re-start their 3 shots, they completed their first 2 shots in last two months and waiting for another four months to go for their next shot.so i just wanted to know how effective are these two shots. Will they do any good to protect from the virus/it will be effective only after three shots?

They have to re-start their 3 shots for HepB. Not just because *you* can infect them... they  can get infected at several other places! At doctors', dentists', etc.

It is safe to stay with them -- just don't share personal hygiene items, etc.
