A recent study by researchers from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) found high rates of liver disease among HIV infected adults with persistent, elevated aminotransferase levels while being treated with ART. 1 The study looked at patients who had elevated aspartate aminotransferase (AST) or alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels higher than the upper limit of normal (ULN: AST >34 U/L or ALT >41 U/L) on at least 3 occasions over a period of 6 months or more. Eligible patients did not have evidence of viral hepatitis or other established causes of chronic liver disease and were candidates for liver biopsy.

Yes, if the benefit outweighs the negative effects we'll have to continue it until taf comes with 1/10th reduction in dose and similarly sides.
if its hiv coinfected patients and it doesn t apply to us, they are totally different from our disease and they die anyway even if on antivirals, their disease is not hiv only but all the diseases that come with a weak immune system.
they get liver disease and kidneys disease and so many others while on antivirals

The title of your posting is wrong, it should say TDF NOT TAF.
The authors acknowledge that their research has some possible limitations. They did not collect data on alcohol use, nor was information available on the use of potentially liver-toxic treatments for serious infections such as tuberculosis and PCP pneumonia.
