MRI - Is this a routine test?

by dndwydnn, Nov 04, 2009 06:03PM
My husband was diagnosed with remote chronic hep B last December. He has been taking Baraclude for 6 months, and had an U/S and recommended him for an MRI and we are currently awaiting the results. My question is, is this a standard procedure for Hep B? Or should we be concerned about something they are looking for?

My husband doesn't speak English extremely well in medical situations and told me there was 'water' on his liver, which is why they recommended the MRI.

I want to support him and would like to know if I need to prepare myself for bad news. Thanks in advance.

It would be best to ask his doctor for some clarification.

I’ve never heard of “water” on the liver, but it sound like they may have seen something on the U/S that they just want to get a better look at through an MRI.

I don’t think you should worry about anything at this point and like I said, they probably just want to get a better look at something. I don’t want to speculate about what it could be, but it’s likely nothing to be concerned about. Cross that bridge when and if you come to it.

Sorry I don’t have a better answer. Best to ask his doctor since there seems to be a translation barrier.

Try to think positive thoughts instead of preparing for the worst.
