Mutant HBV

I was diagnosed with Hepatitis B in 1997 in my final year of dentistry university (unfortunatly they don't test you before starting the degree in Turkey!

To follow are my test results:

HBsAg: +, Anti-HBc (total): +, Anti-HBc IgM: +, HBeAg: -,
Anti-HBe: -

Total CO2: 27, Sodium: 139, Potassium: 4.5, Urea: 4.1,
Total Bilirubin: 29, Conjugated Bilirubin: 4, Alkaline Phosphatase: 50, Alanine Aminotransferase: 21, Albumin: 42

Hepatitis A IgG/IgM (ELFA): Not Detected
Hepatitis C IgG (EIA): Not detected

HB DNA Serology: level >10^5 but <10^

My liver enzymes have consistently been normal.
I have recently been told that, the combination of my results and the fact that I come from Turkey I am likely to have the mutant HBV and that I propably had it before I started university.I know that mutant HB is more common in the Mediterannean countries and that a large number of people are infected without knowing it.

Is there a way of knowing if it is mutant HBV?
Is there a way of knowing when and how I was infected?
As I am HBeAg (-) and my liver functions are fine, does it mean I don't need to worry about sirosis or Carcinoma?
What tests should I have done regularly?
If mutant HBV is so easly contracted do I need to worry about infecting colleages or friends (non-familly members)?

Thank you so much...
