My Hep B situation: How bad it is!

During a routine health check about 4 years ago, I was diagnosed wiuth Hepatitis B. The doctor said that ithe virusa was dormant so there wasn't much cause for concern, as long I avaoided eating or drinking anything that could damage my liver. So I quit drinking altogether, but I continue to smoke (doesn't affect liver though).. The doctor also advised me to go for check-ups six months or so. In the ast checkup the doc

My doc is out of town so haven't ha d a chance top discuss these with him. He's back tomorrow so will go meet him.

According to you, what does GGPT indicate?

What vaccination did you mean? Hep B? Will not help. Anything else? Sure! Why not?

GGPT is not associated with Hep B, as far as I know.

LFTs are fairly cheap, if I remember correctly. I think it is about 100 Rs. If I were you, I would just get myself re-checked within the next few days. If it remains high, talk to a doctor about it. What did your doctor comment about these results?

This is the first time I got a viral load (DNA count) done.
My ALT is 89, my lab says normal should be 30 to 69U/L.

I've been asked to get LFT done every six months, this time I got a bit late sop got it tested after 9.

I'm concerned about Gamma GT (GGTP), Serum: 248.0. What si this and what impact it has?

The good part is that your viral load is quite low. How frequently do you check it? The bad part is that your ALT is fairly high... approximately twice upper normal limit (UNL). How often do you check your ALT? What is the range indicated by your lab for normal ALT? This varies somewhat from lab to lab, so keep in mind their reference ranges.

If you observe a high ALT infrequently, it may not be related to Hep B at all. However, if you see that it stays high consistently, you need to get an ultrasound scan and/or a liver biopsy.
