My Wife is Hepatitis B + but I am -

Dear All,
My wife with whom we have been together for 10 years now is diagnosed with Hepatitis B but I am not. I left her and travel abroad for two years now and we have not met each other for this time. She said she has not sex outside and we don't have a child yet.
My question is, Can we still have kids? if yes, what do we need to do before having kids that I shouldn't be infected as well.
Can it be possible that for 8 years together she is infected and I am not able to contract the infection?
     Thanks all for your advice.
      Stay Bless.

Thanks soo much lzzy79 for this piece of info. As for the tests from the hepatologist as u said above, she has carried out the tests and the result analyst said her liver is in a very good condition. Although she wanted treatment to be prescript, the Hepatologist said she doesn't need it and that she should do routine check in a 3 months interval.
I am very grateful and will appreciate further info on how to go about with the virus.

Yes it is possible, beeing together for such a long time, and not to be infected, but it doesn´t mean, that there is no chance to stay save in the future. You have to get vaccinated  and after that you have to check your antibodies!

I´m in the same situation - hep b positive woman, my husband is negative. we have been together for 8 years. i found out that i´m positive during my pregnancy. my daughter was vaccinated within 2 hours after birth. My husband was also vaccinated, after learning that i´m positive.

Sex is not the only way to get hepatitis B!!!

Your wife hast to go to hepatologist. There are a few blood checks that have to be done, liver biopsy or fibroscan. Concidering that, the hepatologist will decide if she needs therapy or not.
You can have kids! As i wrote above, you need vaccine and the baby as well (within few hours after birth).

There is a lot of information heer in this forum. Read to learn more about it!
