Need help reading Hepatitis B lab results

Ok I need some help....I'm trying to make sure that I have nothing to be worried about..I was told several years ago that I tested postitive for Hep B and was sent to a gastro dr.  She did lab results and basically from what I remember (I was only 20 so a lot of things didn't make a lot of sense then) that I would only need to come back if the test showed certain things which I remember being told that I didn't have to come back but now I'm pregnant and I just want to make sure that everything is ok.  I don't really want to have to talk to the ob dr about this if it's nothing to worry about...it's kinda like bringing up something for no reason and bringing a lot of worrying back again.  So please any help would be greatly appreciated....here's that the lab test says:

Hepatitis B Core Antibody, Total
Hep B Core AB, Total         POS       ABN  NEGATIVE

Hepatitis B Core AB, IgM
Hep B Core AB, Igm     NEG          NEGATIVE

Hepatitis B Surface Antibody
Hepatitis B antibody     NEG        NEGATIVE

***I don't really understand the part above that says POS and then ABN   NEGATIVE.

In her report she wrote that "If her hepatitis B surface antibody is negative and IGM is negative, I don not feel that she will need further evaluation, and will await the pending labs.

Thanks for any information.

Something is missing here. The first test you would need to see is the S antigen test. That is the front line test to see if you are positive.

The next test would be the E antigen and E antibody test. That would give an indication of how 'active' your hep is. Although nowadays a PCR viral load test would tell you more information.

btw, you should definetely talk to your OB about this. If you are still positive, there is a good chance you could give your baby it. However , if the OB knows you have it, there is medication that can stop the transfer of Hep to your child.

From cdc website (scroll down)
http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/diseases/hepatitis/b/faqb.htm

HBsAg              positive
anti-HBc            positive
IgM anti-HBc      negative
anti-HBs positive negative

means you are chronically infected. You should get the E antigen test along with the DNA count to see if you are active or inactive carrier.

Hi, Im a hep b carrier ive had it from birth im now 29 , i have been a low risk carrier since my early teens, when I was 19 i visited a British specialist who advised me that i am a very low risk to others and that passing it through sex was unlikely as i only has traces in my blood. Since then other doctors have advised me i am still a risk  but seem unable to tell me to what extent below is my last test results and comments the doctor gave me in a letter can anybody help tell me if im inactive,  low risk or what. I would be very grateful as it actually is starting to upset me

HBSAg pos
anti hbe positive
HBEag negative

DNA  3.96x10*2 iu/ml

The doctor wrote that this means i have about 1000 viruses per 1ml

Help!!!!
