Need opinions from the pros

Ive been taking viread since 2010 when I found out I have hbv. I decided to stop a two months ago because I was really feeling the effects of it. I was losing my hair. Seeing gray hair at the age of 23. I was sweating consistantly. And having heat and cold flashes. I remained hbeag positive throughout the 5 years. My question is, with the new tdf around the corner. Considering it might be less toxic. I am now of course feeling the rebound of hbv when not taking virals. Should I get back on tdf? Is it worth staying off tdf until the new one is released? I just want some opinions from the pros. And am I putting myself at risk for hcc. Is it worth it considering promising drugs are surfacing and it looks as if by 2020 well have something.

Ps: considering I live in the US I havent been able to see my hbsag quant

My hair grew back immediately after stopping tdf. The amount of gray hairs were alot less. My skin looked healthier. I just felt as if tdf was having more of a negative impact than a positive impact on me. So i know it was tdf in relation to my hair loss. But I do understand my liver is more important. I just think Im being deprived of some type of vitsmins while on tdf that I cant figure out. I take vd3 10,000 mg daily.

I am currently on a clinical trial to compare TAF and TDF. My hair grows no problem and I'm almost 2 years into it. However, I have lots of gray hair. Then again, so did my dad at the age of 28 and that is when I started too! I don't think this has anything to do with the meds. It's not reccommended that you stop them unless you are completely cured.

My doctor told me that interferon can cause hair loss but it's reversable after finish of curation.
I don't have a lot of hair left anyway, so not an issue in my case :)

another correction: *unless your DNA without tenofovir is bellow 2000 IU (but thats highly unlikely as you are hbeag positive)..

not kidney, liver i ment to say...

You should consider interferon (best would be in combination with tenofovir or entacavir) because you are young (thats a big factor for interferon success) and because you are hbeag positive (another factor raising your chances for interferon cure).

You can live without your hair but you can't live without your kidney.
Stopping tenofovir might result in a strong hepatitis flare which can be potentially dangerous. In addition to that there is a possibility that your virus can mutate so that in future tenofovir won't be able to suppress it. For those reasons you should for a time being stay on it unless your DNA is bellow 2000 IU, or unless you are going to at least go with interferon (but for high viral loads if you have one, like in millions IU you should still stay on Tenofovir (or maybe change to Entecavir), but you have to consult with a very good hepatitis specialist before doing anything drastic like stopping Tenofovir.

Dont think grey hair and hair loss are correlated to tdf, i have healthy friends with grey hair since the teens and hair loss usually happens around 16-30yo both things are very common i  western coutries but strange almost unknown in asians and some natives of south america...probably genes

if hair loss has stopped and grey hair retuned original color then it is tdf

I think you should poste also more info, for example your viral load, alt, genotype, race etc ...
Did side effects passed when you stopped to take it ?
