Can anyone explain in lay person language of this discovery? What does it mean for HBV?

very good they are continuing research, rna interference was discovered years ago by a US company but after this discovery it was bankrapt because other durg makers sueing them, don t remember why i only remember they stopped everythign and even website of this company dissapered
so rnai research continued in israel and other countries outisde US, i am very happy to know that research is being conitued in china/australia where infuence of US drug makers is close to zero, especially china

rnai is still in early stage research but in vitro studies showed it can get rid of cccdna and eradicate hbv fast, but it can cure many many diseases not only viral diseases

i remember there were trials in canda for different illnesses (rna can cure a very wide range of diseases) but there was a death so trials were stopped for sometime

in any case we are many years from rnai being available in the market, probably replicor and myracludex will arrive earlier

too early even to know if it works and can be applied to humans, this will be 5-10 years to be developped, the reason of this news is usually a way for small companies to get funds

the only certain drugs on development are replicor and myracludex (or similar name, i dont remember it anymore) since they had human trials.

by the way replicor looked very effective on hbeag positive only because threere was one person with hbeag negative with no results at all, so replicor needs human trials with many hbeag negative patients to see if there is a response on hbeag neg or no response
