Oral Sex and Hep B

Firstly, a thank you to those who donate time to help inform people and ease their anxieties.

I'm having problems finding good Information regarding risk of Hep B transmission from an infected female to a male during Oral Sex. The male being the insertive partner (getting "kissed").

About 10 days ago I went to a massage parlor on vacation is SE Asia where Hep B is much more prevalent than in NA and Europe. During the massage, the worker started to preform masturbation (which i expected) and then unprotected oral sex (which i did not expect). It went on for just a little while, maybe 45 seconds or 1 minute, but its very hard for me to tell as I am so nervous about it. Could have been 1.5 min or only 30 seconds. Overall it was very smooth and not once did i feel her teeth and once I realized what i was doing I stopped her right away. I have a loving gfriend at home and i just wanted to have a little fun, but not that much fun!

In any case, I am now worried sick about the transmission risk of Hep B from this episode and to a lesser extent HIV (i know I should post that comment in another forum but figured STD forum was ok since not main Q).

Summary:

1. 10 Days have past - no symptoms of any STD and i feel totally healthy, aside from my severe anxiety about the episode.
2. I washed penis and urinated afterwards. There was no blood involved in her mouth and could not see any sores or ulcers on lips, but there is no way to know for sure how her oral hygene was. (she had all her teeth and looked normal, but hard to tell)

What would you consider my risk is for STDs at this point? Particullary Hep B, but if you would care to comment on HIV, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Syphilis I would most appreciate.

I do plan on getting a full STD screen at 4 weeks. Is it safe to have protected sex with my girlfriend if no symptoms are present at this time?

Thanks for reading and for your time. I sure hope i can somehow ease my anxieties until I go test. I feel terrible.

Yes Hep B can be transmitted via oral sex. You need to be tested properly. I guess you are at a low risk but low risk does not mean no risk. Better to be checked.

I am hopeful you will be fine and may not have contracted Hep B.

From my understanding, there isn't any medical documentation supporting transmission of Hep B via Oral Sex unless exchange of blood or semen and vaginal secretions involve. We cannot be sure unless you are tested. On the safe side, you should have protected sex with your girlfriend.

On the moral side, that is a naughty thing you did. Oral sex is sex. =)

Hi guys,

Thanks for your answers, and sorry for the late response.

I have read up quite a bit on the issue and from what I have gathered getting Hep B from receiving oral sex is a low risk act.. however I am waiting until next week (5 weeks out) to go get tested.

(Emily - I trully know it was a naughty thing, I really did not even intend to do it!  def wont put myself in that circumstance again...)

During this waiting period I have been very paranoid about every little thing on my body... have had a little irritation on the roof of my mouth close to the gums (went away after a few days) and am even freaking out about the little red "cherry angiomas" i have on my body (even though I know i had some even before my "exposure").

In any case, thank you again.. and for those folks still battling this condition I give you my sincere hope that with a healthy diet and proper lifestyle you will minimize the effect of this condition on your lives.. there seems to be many promising treatments on the horizon.

Best..
