I had known previous exposure to Hep B @ 17 years old. I was immediately vaccinated & evaluated. Several weeks after the exposure tested HBsAG negative, Now over 10 years later I'm older & wiser wanting simple info about my 17 year old crisis thus if my immunity was obtain through Hep B exposure or the vaccination? I still have tested HBsAG negative for the past 3 years however I keep showing an acute HBcAB IGM antibody at very low levels can be considered(False Positive). My Hep B Surface Antibody is active at extremely high levels. Still the General Practice Doctor insist w/ HBcAB IGM(positive), HBsAB (positive) & HBsAG (negative) I am chronic infectious? The CDC along with Hep Org states otherwise due to HBsAG negativity so in the midst of ALL this confusion I am seeking a Hepatologist to review my results... I have to wait a month for that appt.

it dosn t exsist a more accurate test than this, write exactly the test code so that they won t test with hbv ultraquant which is a cheaper test even for ngi and useless for you

you will exclude any possible occult hbv since these low levels of virus, 0.28iu/ml can be easily found in people who cleared acute hbv effectively from many years, if test will be negative you have absolutely no virus left

you might also check hbsag with abbott architect or siemens (Enzygnost® HBsAg 5.0 and 6.0), these are routinely used in italian hospitals but i see US, UK and canada don t.these have higher sensibility than older tests reaching 0.05iu/ml and almost all hbsag mutants

the old hbsag tests available in US don t get hbsag mutants and hbsag sensibility is much higher something like more than 0.5iu/ml (i don t remember their sensibility, their quite old tests and actually cannot be used anymore to screen safely 100%)

for hbvdna ultraqual you have to contact ngi, for abbott or siemens you should move to europe or asia if you don t find them in US, contact abbott US to know where they do in US
both abbott and siemens are made in germany so probably just market reasons for it not availble in US, they are both not expensive machines/tests
