Really new to the tests and confused-help

OK Here we go...

I was first exposed to HEP B from a Chronic carrier in August 2013.  Then again at the end of last month.  We found out that he was Chronic and I immediatly went to get tested.  Big suprise I tested poitive for Surface Antigen and Negative for Antibodies.  I then had further tests done and this is where I and the nurse got confused.

Hep B Surface Antigen- Positive
Hep B Surface Antibody- Negative
Hep BE Antigen- Positive
Liver Panel all in range
Hep B Core Antibody- Negative- this is where the nurse told me she couldn't understand.

The two tests were done about a week apart and from all I have read I most likely was infected in August  due to the timelines of when the antigen shows up in your system.

I have no idea why the liver panel would be OK and my Core Antibody be negative.

I am sitting and trying to search the web for any and all details yet I am confusing myself.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

The Core test wasn't defined like that.  With the test being negative she said she was sending it out for further evaluation.  I never received any detailed report with levels in my system, just that my liver function was in range.  The lab order just stated Hepititas B Core Antibody, possibly that is why she sent it out for further tests.

I was not infected as a child, I had a blood infection due to a surgery and they ran every test possible.  That is how I know exactly when my exposure was.

Now going on month 4, wouldn't the Antibodies be in my system?  I really just want to get a grip to confirm or deny if it is Chronic so that I may start homeopathic & traditional medical methods.

Thank you for your response sorry I couldn't be more specific.  I will try to get more information asap.

liver specialists are ignorant about hbv, just figure what a nurse can understand about hbv although they can sure help with normal hbv tests results

hbcab was igg or igm?

by hbcab igm negative you know you got the infection in childhood as all carriers (adults chronic about 2-3% only)

hbcab igg is usually positive but hbv is a population of mutant viruses and there are so many mutations that hbv markers dont work for all of them.

so first check if it was hbcab igg or igm and if it was igg don t worry it makes no difference

the most important tests to define hbv status are:
hbsag quantity in iu/ml
hbvdna pcr
fibroscan
hbeag/hbeab
hbv genotype
