SEXUAL CONTACT AND HBsAG

My partner is HBsAG positive for last 12 yrs! I wanted to know whether a sexual contact with him ,transmit the germ in me or not? will my blood get contaminated? A reliable source says, its only immediate after menstruation days, that a female can get this germ if she has sexual contact with an infected, how far is this true? is there no way of getting physical with my partner, without having the fear of getting contaminated?? also let me know if the germ gets transmitted through kisses?? even if I get infected what are the ways of cure?? just let me informed about the possible cure for HBsAG patient! is this not curable atall?

Dear MEJO2006,

Since you state that you BF has been HEP B Antigen Positive for 12 years, that means your BF is a Chronic Hep B carrier. Yes, it is possible for him to give you the virus ( NOT A GERM! ).

The virus is present in body fluids such as blood, saliva, semen and vaginal fluid. In the UK, Europe and North America, hepatitis B is mainly passed from person to person by having unprotected sex. In the rest of the world the most common way of getting infected is from infected mothers to their children, or from child to child.

The virus may be present in other body fluids, such as saliva and vaginal fluid, particularly if it is contaminated with blood, which can pass on the infection.
People who are most at risk of being infected are:
injecting drug users
babies born to infected mothers
family members and partners of an infected person
healthcare workers who have direct contact with blood, e.g. doctors, dentists, nurses and midwives
people who live and work in accommodation for people with severe learning difficulties
prisoners
people travelling and working in countries where the virus is common
people who have unprotected sex (without a condom) with people who may be infected.
Hepatitis B can be very infectious. Some people pass on the virus more easily than others because they have more of the virus in their bloodstream.

I would suggest that you get tested. AND PRACTICE SAFE SEX. If you are NOT infected I suggest that you get the HEP A AND HEP B vaccines, so that you can develope an immunity to the virus. IF you have hep B get the HEP A shot. Your BF should get the HEP A shot as well. As a CO-INFECTION would be very dangerous.

Most people who get infected with HEP B have an acute form, which resolves within a few weeks. Your BF who seems to have a chronic form ( ongoing) should also get checked to see what state his liver is in and what type of damage (if any) there is to his liver. Good Luck.

Get a blood test - this is a really simple thing to do and it will let you know either way what your answer is.

HepB is very contagious and I would get tested right away since it is sexually transmitted.

Most of us in here have hepC which is not really sexually transmitted - although most people think it is.

LOL @ HEP C "not really" transmitted thru sex. Thats not entirely accurate. There is a chance (although not common)that it can be. There are also many cases that are "sporadic" meaning that the cause just isn't identifiable.

Yeah, I think my husband is afraid to have sex with me now.  Actually I am afraid, too.  I would worry that he would be one of the minority that would get it sexually.

A 2 - 3% chance if blood is passed during sex is what I mean by NOT REALLY

HepB, AIDS other diseases are easily and readily transmitted via sexual encounters.

People with HepC are encouraged to practice safeR sex not safe sex...(ie: no anal sex, not during "that time" of the month etc).

That is a HUGE difference so I stand by "not really" cause it's not the same thing AT ALL.

Yes it's possible - but not like with hepB which is not only blood borne.

Don't be afraid to have sex now - look at the FACTS and share them with your husband. Talk openly about this and you will both see you are FINE. Many many monogramous couples in here have had sex for like 25 years and had nothing happen.

I don't currently have a partner but my last boyfriend understood and while we were safeR we were not safe...big difference but we were very careful.

Google up sex and HCV and there are many GREAT articles to substantiate the relatively miniscule chance of passing it on this way.  It will help you both a LOT.  It helped with me and my guy.

Of course, I did tell him when I found out I was HCV pos and we had a discussion about it together. I think that is CRUCIAL and people should not keep it a SECRET from a partner because well you can't practice safeR sex if you don't know to.

True, I agree, but a chance is a chance ( read risk ) none the less. Who would want to live with the fact of (possibly) infecting their loved ones? I wouldn't. Although, as I said it is not common, but it hasn't been ruled out that HEP C isn't passed via sex. So again, I agree, use protection. It also is still a point of contention about having intercourse while menstruating, as well as with Extreme or hard sex (  NOT JUST ANAL ) Women should also remember to dispose of ANYTHING that has blood on it in a careful manner, IE. In a sealed bag, so that no one can come into contact easily with blood ( such as a garbage man or the superintendent.

Didn't really mean EASY meant EASIER.

Follow the safeR sex rules and be in a monogamous relationship and things should be fine is what the doc told me.

I have no problem with that if the other person agrees and as the studies have not shown any evidence of the disease being passsed that way - think it's good advice.

Of course there is no reason a person can't use a wrapper and be 100% (or as close as you can ever really be to it).

It's a personal decision and there have not been enough studies done to prove any of it all out really.

My xhusband has the disease too but do I think I got it that way? No. The years and damage don't match up at all. I believe I got it via drugs, snorting coke in the 80s.

Of course I COULD have gotten it that way and will never know.

Thanks for the info.  Yeah, my hubby and I have been married 21 years, and I probably have had this disease 25.  He got tested and doesn't have it.

I guess I have little OCD on top of everything else , computers that dont work really bug me( kidding...but not). I certainly didn't intend to make you feel lazy , and really would have prefered that not everyone know about that offer , but felt I needed to make it , public forum or not.
This computer , is one I bought for my son that he downloaded everything on, in the days before we had any defense against pop ups and spyware and adware , he didn't take care of the maintenance and it got swamped , to the point that it wouldn't even go through startup. It went in the closet , he got a new Pentium and Norton Internet Security to keep it running and the rest is history as they say. I ordered the recovery disc's and recovered the hard drive and its good as new.
Your a good egg Charlie Brown and I would gladly sent it if needed.

Sorry, but I just had to comment on this:

Since there is a SLIGHT risk ( among monogamous couples ) who is to say that YOU DIDN'T catch it from your husband? Or vice Versa? Since the risk is slight ,who is to say that it took YEARS for one of you to become infected? Get my point?

The truth is most people that have a disease don't know WHERE OR HOW they contracted it and pondering it is most often times a fools game. Safer sex IS SAFE SEX for most of us. Short of Abstinance ( not an option for most couples )its as safe as we can get.

I will do it tomorrow I promise. I'll look tonight for all the discs and then tomorrow start loading them all in. I HATE doing it...in the olden days to tell you the truth I'd have a couple glasses of wine, put some music on and it would be fun but now - on day after shot day without Mr. Smirnoff or Mr. Rose or somebody to keep me company it's drudgery!!!!!!!   hahahha

I keep forgetting that I CAN check my home mail from THIS computer...I ALWAYS forget about webmail!  The biggest problem is I hate not being able to post on Saturday so I really have to get off my lazy anemic butt and just DO IT!

You do such a great service to all of us and to everyone that needs an answer or a shoulder that it just seems like a shame that you're having PC trouble but none of us can really do anything to help you with it. I have read frustration about it in your posts. If you cant get your computer going....
I have a computer in the closet (its gay) that was a spare of a spare that no one uses and its just taking up space. I bought it at Best Buy a couple of years ago. It's a Emachine-2ghz athelon processor , 256k ram , 80 gig hard drive , DVD , CD  ,
Windows XP ,just recently restored the hard drive to original condition , ethernet card and wireless. I am not kidding , I want to send it to you if you can use it. It's no big deal. I know , you dont hardely know me , but that doesn't matter to me , I see who you are daily . I can put it in UPS and it could be there in a couple of days.
Think about it and if you can use it , PLEASE let me know and I'll send it to you.
Thats all.

You are the most wonderful guy - I can't believe you offered that.

My computer is relatively new and at the time cost me a LOT. I had all this video editing equipment and stuff put in and a dvr and all this "dream" stuff I wanted.

Then along came the spider(s) 15 & 18 years old. Downloading music. Downloading pictures and IMs and any program they felt like.

So they downloaded a virus that Norton doesn't even pick up. All my spyware programs and virus programs could do zip. nada. nothin'.

Eventually the poor sucker was just crying to be wiped out and reformatted but lazy me figured...the kids just are going to do it for the tenth time to me why bother.

And I was getting revenge on them while sort of cutting off my nose to spite my face.  Now hopefully they will realize I've had it leave MY computer alone do NOT download anything!

I doubt it...but I'll try.

At least my virus (the big one I couldn't get rid of) had a cool name - Lestat.  I figure just like this disease the vampyre wants to drink my blood too :)

You are the most wonderful. Thank you so much for your offer - maybe the best thing you did was make me realize how guilty I am about being LAZY!

Debby :)

What do you mean by "hbeag Hbe all other are normal?"

If she is adult when infected, her immune system has 95% chance of clearing HBV.

I had my wife medically tested three days ago and I was surprised that HBS AG(that is virus c) was discovered in her. How can we cure the disease and are we safe to have sex? I am extremely worried and I am in a dire need of you help. Desmond Luke
