entecavir or tenofovir can be added but only if hbsag gets lower than 2000iu/ml this will take 6-12 months of ntz, so it is not immediately but only in case ntz works

Thanks Stef. I will check if I can find Alinia here in the Phils. I am a bit worried in taking Entecavir immediately since checking Baraclude through internet say that it  is best for HBeAg positive and liver shows inflamation. It will make HBV DNA UND in months time but not HBsAG. Thanks.

yes that's biopsy, i had two in my life, if doctor is expert there is nothing to worry about, it is much more dangerous to go on without knowing

if you have your alt/ast continuatively for at least 2 years with value below 19 or in any case below 40 you might assume you have no serious damage, but alt are not 100% predictive of no damage in a small percentage there is damage with alt>19 women and alt>30 men

Anti HbeAg positve,HbeAg Negative
in this case nizonide500 is a very good option and 2 years of continuous therapy might make hbsag negative, you can try it.if you have the chance to make hbsag quantitative you might check baseline and then after 6 months, if ithas declined lower than 2000iu/ml it makes sense to combo with entecavir or interferon because you are sure you will get rid of hbsag in a couple of years if not earlier
nizonide500 should also be able to suppress hbvdna since yours is low already

if you start it check our posts about alinia/nitazoxanide, doses, times to take it with food....and let us know your results

Thanks Stef. Liver biopsy sounds scary to me. Imagining taking a sample of your liver out of you if this is biopsy stands for. I have to gather more information before jumping into medication. Considering my AST/ALT is normal. Anti HbeAg positve,HbeAg Negative ,HBsAg positive (2600) and my HBV DNA 1099 IU/ml.I dont know if I still have chance to get rid of this through natural immune suppression.

philippins is even way worst than india, at least in india they produce the generic version of drugs.....

you should check your liver damage first all other tests are useless if you don t even know the damage.

alinia generic version nizonide500 is cheaper than interferon but be aware that on hbe pos and as monotherapy the results are very very little.it is an immune modulator that acts similar to interferon and boosts interferon signaling pathways.it makes sense to use it in combo with interferon, used as monotherapy with hbe pos might be just a waste of money for you

Thanks Stefano for the info. My doctor didnt even bother to gave me info that taking entecavir will be a lifelong medication once taken.By the way,I am from Phils. I am a health conscious person and never abused my body through drinking and smoking except for work overtime.I am really determined to get rid of this HBsAg on my body but after all the information you guys given I do know now where I stand. I might contracted this virus through unprotected sex on my teenage days since non of the family dont have this virus. Is Alinia an antiviral? Can this be purchase over the counter?I dont want to take chances as well taking antivirals if this will only open the hornet's nest. My HBeAb still positive for years now never changed. I did even have my most recent Hep profile and the result is still the same. Is just the my HBsAg is 2600 count (dont know whats the unit of ref on this result).

the problem is india doesn t have fibroscan and hbsag quantification so they just prescribe whatever
under go this fibroscan or biopsy?

there is no other way to now liver damage and if you have it you need therapy if you dont you might skip it for now since viral load is not high

the only drugs that can be stopped anytime are immune modulators interferon and alinia, in this case you can take anytime you like, they also have the higest percentage of hbsag eradication.the bad thing is interferon is expensive and might have heavy sides

tenofovir, entecavir, these two must be taken for life once started

Your viral load is low. Check your liver functions too. Be careful before taking antiviral.  You must take for life. I think you probably do not need treatment. Ask as many opinions as possible before accepting treatment. Once you take it you cannot stop.

Hi Stefano,

I haven't have undergone any fibroscan or biopsy or any medication. Is it necessary for me to under go this fibroscan? If I go for a medication should I go for Alinia? The doctor told me that he havent heard alinia what he know is Baraclude. I am physical fit as a whole like mountain biking. Never  been hospitalized through any ailments. Is just this working outside the country that needs this HBSAg test.

there is no therapy for 2 months for hbv, change doctor, therapies cannot be stopped for life or until hbsag is negative

hbvdna is low so there should be no need for therapy unless you have liver damage, what is your fibroscan or biopsy result?

before taking entecavir you must be sure you have no resistant polimerase mutations like those under LAM, did you make polimerase mutations test?
