Spider

To Steven,

Recently, my doctor was checking the palm of my hand as a part of his exam.  He found about three flat spiders as he called them.  What does this mean?  Is this an indication of liver inflamation?

Please help.

palmer erythema is reddening of the palms which "could" indicate liver damage. This will present along with spider aginoma in someone with advanced liver disease, most of the time but not always.

Read on Cystic Fibrosis. It could be part of  HBV complication which  shows reddening on the edge of the palm.

Ther are many other things connceted to the palm and it could be nothing much. Consult your doctor for professional assistance.

Good luck

My dr. checked my palms as well. If they are red, it could indicate more fibrosis in the liver. Although, my fibroscan showed little damage, the dr. was convinced that the red palms were an important tool in gaging fibrosis. They also look for spider nevi on your chest and face as indications.

My doc checked the palms of my hands too as part of his check up the first time I went to see him. I forgot to ask him why. Curious to hear what you find out.
