Trying to make sense of the diagnostic reports!

I have recently been diagnosed with Hep B with the following results:

HBSAG - Reactive (250 IU / ML)
HBSAB - Non-Reactive (<10 mIU/ML)
HBCIGM - Non-Reactive
ANTI-HBE AB - Reactive
HBEAG - Non-Reactive
HBSDNA - < 20 IU / ML

Liver Function Test

Bilirubin (Total) - 0.4 mg/dl
Bilirubin (Direct) - 0.2 mg/dl
Bilirubin (Indirect) - 0.2 mg/dl
SGOT - 27 units/l
SGPT - 27 units/l
GGT - 13 units/l
Alkaline Phosphatase - 101 units/l
Total Proteins - 7.3 gm/dl
Serum Albumin - 4.1 gm/dl
Globulin - 3.2 gm/dl
A/G Ration - 1.28

Any the Ultrasound suggest some fatty acids in the liver.

The Gastro suggests that I do not need any medicine as yet (he seemed very casual) and I only need to monitor my HBVDNA every six months. I don't know much about these and googling has made me even more confuse, so I turned to this site for any advice that you guys may have for me.

Regards,

Indy

PS: Stefano, it woule be great if you could take some time out of your work to answer me on this.

pls check carefully this result because it probably says hbsag>250iu/ml
HBSAG - Reactive (250 IU / ML)

but if you are so lucky to have such low hsag at 250iu/ml you can eradicate hbv very easily because your immune system is already activated on it, you can use alinia (nizonide500) which is very fast to lower it or a combo interferon+alinia, but since interferon is expensive and might have heavy sides it is better alinia only
there is a small percentage of patients with low hbsag due to a mix of mutant and wildtype hbsag and not due to immune system, i hope u are not in this rare percentage

The Gastro suggests that I do not need any medicine as yet (he seemed very casual)
this is very very very wrong because at the last int'l liver congress studies showed that therapy with immune modulators can eradicate hbv when the virus is so weak in a very high percentage while they are useless with high hbsag and hbvdna

find a very good liver specialist, not the gastro you went or a researcher so that you can start off label alinia+interferon or just start alinia and let the specialist monitor response, as you know alinia in india is nizonide500 by lupin.also follow the alinia thread and let us know if yo start and results, you are the most probable for fast eradication if hbsag is really so low

until hbsag negative and hbsab>10miu/ml but if hbsag is so low as 250iu/ml it will probably require short time like 6-12 months

check alinia thread

to take the medicine every 6 hours.
yes total 2g daily always with food.it stays very short time in the blood and has bad absorption if eaten wthout foood

Thanks Stef for the quick reply! I will definitely consult another doctor. But is it possible to start right away with Alinia? In India it wouldn't be a problem to get the medicine without prescription. I read some where in this forum that one need to take the medicine every 6 hours. Is it true? And how long should this treatment be for?
