Cost is much less than what you state for C, it's about 70k now. Also it's about 3k in Egypt, so you can travel ther and get it cheap for a cure!
Also I don't see this as a 10 year process at all, TKM-HBV is currently being prepped for phase 2 next year and it had 2 log KD of HBsag.
This is the first time I have seen large pharma acknowledge cccDNA importance when discussing a drug.
The track record of those involved here is stellar, great minds and also some money is working on this
This is my concern.. how long will the wait be and also, what will be the cost. The Hep C drugs for the cure are costing people $250,000 American Dollars. I'd imagine they will do the same with this, which is horrible. They need to develop these drugs quicker so we don't have to suffer any longer. Also, how quick will the drugs cure. Are we talking within a 6 month window or will we see it take 2-3 years.
In the meantime, let's all support each other with the best advice we can! Everyone has been so helpful here!
thanks for the news, let's hope for the best outcome of this
I guess im trying to understand the long wait period. Are we talking 10 or20 years wait?
Interesting news. Oncore is looking at many potential drugs for HBV, all are pre-clinical. It will be a long wait for the best candidates to emerge, I think.
It's likely a few years away, but these are the guys (Oncore) that cured Hep C first and with the least sides. They are teaming with Tekmira and there RNA interference technology to attack it with a 3 pronged approach.
How long you thing it will take to be released to us?
