Vit D supplement for CHB

I just got result for Vit D level that is around 26.7. My hepatologist said it is normal and not necessary to have vit D supplement.

I am wondering that if I want to have Vit D3, which daily does would you recommend? and how long can I take it without toxicity?

Thank you.

i d never thought corruption could get to pharmacists as well (i hope this is not because they are ignorant).if you happen to visit that pharmacy again tell the pharmacist to be ashamed of his ignorance

for example my dose is 100.000iu per day since summer 2013, by the way remember to check your pth too to know if the vitd is getting vdr receptors or if useless.vit d levels are not all

of course is, the sun makes 20.000iu in few horus on healthy people full skin at the beach....also look at italian guidelines on vit d deficiency and the doses at 1.000.000iu , do you think guidelines would use these doses

the dose to increase levels is 10.000iu daily then recheck it in 4-8weeks

another note, why do they use iu for vit d while all vitamins are in mcg or mg?i think they do it to scare people on doses, 2.000iu=0.05mg, 10.000iu=0.25mg

I just bought Vitamin D from a german pharmacy and the pharmacist warned me to take more than 1 tablet per week (5.600 i.e)
Is it safe to take 2 tablets per day if they warn you to take 1 per week only?
My vitamin D level is 32 ng/ml

Thanks

I dont know about UK corrupted doctors but I hope it is not as corrupt as we have it here. The whole system. Ignorance if these people is a whole other discussion. Only this year the health insurance industry has stopped discriminating HBV folks from buying an insurance coverage and imposing treatment caps.

They dont even check vitamin D levels. They only write prescription for nucs. It is hard to find a doctor that is willing to use interferon for treatment. Some say it is too advanced for them.

That is why I went to naturapathic doctors at least they listen and try to help the body fight HBV. But we need an integrative approach here. Or these new drugs being released faster. That should be our focus getting these drugs released. Heaving companies like Repicor being accountable for what they do. It cannot be just about dollars and cents. We should not give up. We should write everywhere we can about what is happening with medicine for profit how HBV is neglected and in many ways disregarded. We are given anti HIV meds and no one bothers any further except only a hand few of doctors world wide. That is just  terrible.

Definitely listen to Stef on this! My doctor did the same thing as yours. It was a GI doctor and he never once thought about checking my Vitamin D until I asked him. But after reading here, I started on 2,000iu daily but my GI doctor said that was "too much" and recommended 1,000iu daily. I got my results back, 14.4 and GI said "take 2,000 iu daily".

Once this happened, I came on here and Stef (as well as a friend of mine who is a nutritionist) told me to do 10,000iu daily. Within 4 months, I found a new doctor, who did all the tests and put me on clinical trial meds... Vitamin D was at about 76.6 and he said to stay on 10,000iu daily to increasre and maintain. I told him in the beginning of the year, it was 14.4 and he said (and I quote) "5 more points lower and you probably would have been lying in a hospital bed. That's a severe deficiency!"

I feel pretty darn good today on the extra Vitamin D, but still not 100% though it's getting there.

are UK doctors corrupt or just disgusting ignorant, can they be sued for medical malpractice as in many EU countries?
even if not hbver a doctor cannot keep you deficient and exposed to so many diseases...who is going to pay for the damage you can develop from this?

change doctor right away, more ignorant than any person, check the vitamin d deficiency guidelines

there is no toxicity, it is just a lie for drug makers to keep making money from all diseases due to vit d deficinecy, check the guidelines
