I recently had a physical examination for college admission, and to my surprise i was diagnosed to be a
hepatitis  B carrier (HBsAg). What does HBsAg mean? What are my chances of being cured? How serious is it? Would i be able to live a long life? I understand people with short-term acute hepatitis B have the the virus temporary? How do i know I'm an short term acute hepatitis B carrier.By my recent test shows that everything is normal. Please help cos i'm desperate and almost looks as if i'm cut off from the world.

What does HBsAg mean?

--It refers to the Hep B virus.

What are my chances of being cured?

--For most, the goal is to control the virus.

How serious is it?

--For many of the stages, it is stable.

Would i be able to live a long life?

--Most people with HBV live a long life.

I understand people with short-term acute hepatitis B have the the virus temporary?

--Are you referring to acute stage?

How do i know I'm an short term acute hepatitis B carrier.

--Have another test in 6 months.

As Steven suggests, you will be a lot calmer and able to take care of yourself when you educate yourself about HBV.

Best.

Firstly try to calm down.  You are likely fine.  Most of us find out like you, by total accident.

Second, go read our Health Page to get somewhat up to speed on the basics.

Then this forum will make a whole lot more sense.  If need to, ask questions?
