What is the tolerable limit for Hbv dna quantative test?
Hi,

I found myself to be Hbsag positive 2years back. Recently I have done hbv dna test and the result is 32000 copies. Do I really need to bother about it? Is my liver safe as long as the count doesnt go up? What should I do now to stay healthy? Please let me know.

hbvdna 32000copie/ml is not used anymore, change lab if possible where iu/ml is used (probably better newer machines and more sensitive) or ask for iu/ml

your hbvdna is about 5500iu/ml not high but according to guidelines you should start treatment but since antivirals don t clear virus i'd try interferon and only if alt abnormal and tehre is liver damage by fibroscan otherwise wait for antivirals that can clear hbv

european guidelines (us not reliablen because not updated since 2008): treat if hbvdna>2000iu/ml, alt>30, liver damage f1 or higher
