What shots do I need?

I'm 22 years old and will be entering medical school in July (some exposure to blood).  I know the normal inoculation series is three shots but when I was 16 I had a series of two.  What should I do, start a new series of three, get a booster shot or have a Serologic test done?

You pose a good question. HBV antibody testing is relatively cost-effective, and positive results would eliminate need for further TwinRix vaccine, I believe. If, on the other hand you decide to go ahead and re-vaccinate; I would definitely insist on a six-month-post Ab test anyway to confirm the presence of anti-HBV antibodies. hey there, yes i would definatly get the hep A & B vaccines. unfortunatly ther is no vaccine 4 hep C. beleive me if there was i don't think very many of us would b here on this site. good luck 2 u, & god bless

I would get the Hep A and B shot for sure.  There is no shot for Hep C, yet anyway.

You should get both HBV and HAV shots, as Pdilly and others rightly suggested.  After the full course, you should THEN get serologically tested to be certain you have developed protective antibody.  The point then would be that if you haven't you should have a more prolonged course of anti HBV vaccination (failure to develop anti-HAV antibody is very rare).  Most medical schools / hospitals would (or at least SHOULD) get this stuff done gratis for their med students and other health care workers.
