When TAF coming out ?

Hello, I've been reading this forum for the past 6 months and I have learned a lot. I am due to start on entecavir. My problem is not the viral load, but the fibrosis which is F3 (alt and the rest are normal). I did not start any treatment yet nor have I had past treatment. I am a "fresh" HBVer :) hehe and I noticed I am not the only one here. I have read a lot and noticed that on long term, Viread, is more effective again fibrosis. Now, since I did not start any started any treatment, I was wondering if your can tell from past drug releases, how long should it take for TAF to literally reach Europe market? Also, do you find it wiser to wait for TAF? Regards

prom00 did you test for Hepatitis D yet?

If you are 29 and have Hep B with consistently low viral load...maybe you could test yourself for Hep D if you didn't do so yet.
In the case you have Hep D you would need to, in addition to entecavir/tenofovir also add interferon...

its better to live life normally instead of getting agitated to find a cure for hbv.. steff is right in saying u gonna just waste time in doing so. Its better to live healthy and peacefully taking antivirals than banging head here and there in vague attempts apart from tdf and ifn.

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, that is the plan, will one pill and hope for a cure soon so that the side effect to no catch up on my body
tdf ain't have any significant sides in normal individuals it is well tolerable

It sure does, thank you very much for sharing, as I read the sides effects are a bit harsher than entecavir, but, also TNF has a higher rate of seroconversion.

Its not your life tdf clears hbsag and cures hbv by 17 years on most patients probably by projection on actual hbsag decline, those using peg add on after many years fasten the decline, not to say thenew drugs coming

Just my example: advanced cirrhosis baseline perfect liver now by 5 years of antivirals
Hbsag baseline 7300iu/ml, 5years of antivirals and 1year of peg add on, hbsag now between 700-1200iu/ml

I d clear very probably by another round of peg but i ll wait cuban vaccine in march

Can you see all the time you wasted to cure hbv and how it can be achievable by starting antivirals?

Thank you, yes I agree, I just had a  beautiful baby boy last year, now I can safely start treatment. Please tell me have you tried ETV or TDF? My approach with my doctor will be to start on Viread then switch to TAF when it will appear on the market. What do you think? Regards

Tnx for your all constructive feedback. Yes, I was waiting but still monitoring it and nothing really has happened in between...and yeah I want to start taking one pill every day for the rest of my entire life, but wanted to start with TAF since it is a new release. Here they have Entecavir on recommended drug list and I rather take Viread TBH, but the doctors here are not flexible. So I kinda "have to" start on Entecavir and the doctor may never switch me to TAF for example in the future.

I want to prevent hcc, how do you do that without tdf?

Taf is tdf as you probably know at a low dose and we dont know if resistance is zero like tdf full dose, with sucha damaged liver tdf is the best choice now

if you are f3 and dont start antivirals is like wishing to die as soon as possible, mentally sick

You need to start on TNF immediately

You are plain stupid for not starting the treatment with F3.

Hi guys, tnx for your replies. Yes, I tested it and I do not have it. And yeah, I have low viral load (<2500 ui/ml). I eat and live a healthy life, dunno why I got F3 TBH, I am also AgHbe negative. The only thing I can do now is to prevent liver cancer and wait for a cure and start treatment, but wanted to start directly with TAF ...

I see you are from Romania, that area has high prevelence of HDV coinfections, so you should test it too like Adulski suggested.

Cant wait for TAF to be released

Having F3 it would in my opinion be very stupid not to initiate treatment right away with either entecavir or tenofovir. Even low viral load can advance you to F4 and liver cancer.

Hence the question :)

TAF is expected to be approved in US sometimes this year. Then other countries will start approving it, some sooner, some later, others never....

TAF just got submitted fro FDA approval 2-3 weeks ago. I would not be surprised if the target is for 2017, though it may be earlier.
