about HBSAG

I took the complete medical exam for application abroad and it include the hepatitis screening and the result is non reactive so I was a given a booster dose for hepa after a month my husband took a screening test for hepa and the same negative. This month I took the hepatiter the result was reactive. The dr told me to make a hepa profile to determine if I'm low or high infectivity. WOuld it be possible after a screening done and a booster dose was given to me to have a hepa B infection?

One of the tests was wrong.  Do a third test to determine your real status.

A booster dose of the vaccine will not give you HBV……it does not contain a live virus.

Ignore my previous post. I didn’t copy and paste correctly so lets try this again.

I wish there was a delete post option available. It keeps cutting out the most important part of my post.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, (or confirm) but doesn’t the titer test for HBsAb? If this is the case, then “reactive” would be the desired result on a titer.

Yes, the titer tests for antibodies. I think the original post requires more clarity regarding the tests.

thanks for your response I took the hepa profile and the result is HBsAg - non reactive, Anti-HBs- reactive, HBeAg - non reactive, Anti - HBe - reactive, Anti - HBc IgG - Reactive, Anti - HAV IgM - nonreactive. Does this mean I'm infected?

No. You are not infected.

It sounds like you Dr. was confused about how to read the titer. The Dr. saw the titer result of "Reactive" and may not have realized that it is the result you want to have. It shows you are immune to HBV.
