can i stop tdf?

I'm on 5th week tdf, my fibroscan results 3.8kpa, sgpt 29.9 (always normal) hbvdna 1269 iu. /ml. All results prior to tdf. What possible consequences if any can arise if I stop tdf.

Consult your hepatologist
But know  that lots of mistakes has been committed . I don't know if putting you on the first treatment was due to your fibroscan and alt levels.

yes effect on hbvdna can last about 1 year or more but useless you ll never cure hbv this way because it requires about 17 years on projection studies for most patients to clear hbsag by tdf

No because telbivudine is a weak antiviral and is not a firstline hbv drug, big mistake from his doctor.since hbvdna was not suppressed the mutations are likely to be there

stef2011: mutations had a chance to develop because he stopped sebvivo without switching to other antivir immediatelly ?

If u have detectable hbvdna while on tdf you did not fully respond even to tdf, the most potent hbv antiviral.reason might be mutations while on sebvivo, low immune function and other reasons....i suggest not to stop tdf unless hbsag and hbvdna fully undetectable

If TDF has been used to suppress virus replication, then stopping TDF will most likely allow replication to resume, with subsequent rise in hbvdna and ALT.

There are stopping rules for antivirals, these generally require a period of consolidation after hbvdna becomes undetectable and ALT normalizes, and very close and careful monitoring after stopping. Stopping is not recommended for cirrhotic patients or HBeAg positive patients without e-seroconversion.

Recent studies show that interferon has the best results when combined in antiviral treatment.
Do you know what is your HBsAg quantitive level ?

It is very hard to give you an opinion if we don't know all the facts. To me, it is not a matter of stopping TDF, but rather do you need treatment.

So you stopped sebivo(Telbivudine) in Oct 2013 and your hbvdna was undetectable?
Then you start on TDF in 2015 when your hbvdna rose to 1269 iu/ml?

Why did your doctor start you on sebivo?

Why did you start treatment?
Why do you want to stop?
