can someone pls help me regarding my hepa b profile results

I had my medical last week and my hepatitis b profile result was very confusing to me.  Here are my results:

Hbsag-reactive 1.3 s/c
Anti hbs- reactive 49.28 weak immunity
Anti hbc igm- non reactive
Anti hbcore total- non reactive
Hbeag- non reactive
Anti hbe- non reactive

They said they have to do NAT testing with a new sample and the results will be after a week. Iam very upset because this has never happened to me. Iam a vaccinated person, never had any transfusions, tattoos, or never did i use any drugs. Ibonly have one sexual partner for the past  7 years and he is also a non hepa b person. Can someone please help me. Thanks!

too many types of hbsag tests around and i dont think abbott architect, roches elecsys and newest siemens have any issue of false positive at all.

as regards
the old qualitative tests like the elisa ones i dont know, these are outlaw since a decade in my country, publlic hospitals cannot use it and of course dont use since a long time

Hi Stef its me again. So far I was able to relax for the past few days. I will know the confirmatory test results for my Hbsag on sunday. I have read in the internet about the said tests. There are results that are confirmed or positive neutralization and not-confirmed or failed neutralization. I would like to ask if those failed neutralization means that their initial hbsag was a false-negative meaning that they are really non-reactive to hbsag? Thanks again for your explanation. I would really appreciate it.

i think hbsag was false postive

hbsab 49miu/ml is not weak positive but immune.any level above 10miu/ml is immune

hbvdna pcr is needed because even if you are vaccinated there are hbsag mutants hbv or occult hbv, but this is very unlikely because all other antigens and antibodies are negative, anyway you will be 100% sure

architect, elecsys and the lastest siemens machines can detect almost all hbsag mutants

The unit given was 49.28 mIU/mL for my anti-hbs

I've also tried to have another hepatitis profile testing that same day when I got the results. and thankfully the result of my HBsAg was non-reactive. But the other laboratory insisted that NAT testing should be done and that they needed a new sample from me so I obliged. What help will I benefit from NAT testing? I know deep inside that I havent been exposed to any risks or fluids contaminated. Thanks again

the unit for my hbsab was written like this

HBsAb 49.28 mIU/mL

Thank you for your reply. I am now waiting for the NAT result. I am very disturbed by this result. and it happened for the very first time. I am an active blood donor and this never happened to me. They repeated testing my hbsag and they said the result was around 1.3 and 1.5 but still non reactive for the other markers except my anti hbs.

tests look strange, maybe obsolete machines are used because measuring hbsag by s/co is useless, the standard for hbsag is iu/ml

also hbsab is reported weak at 49, check for the unit of this number

to me looks like a very poor lab quality, false positive and obsolete machines being used, ask for abbott architect or roches elecsys for antigen testing or even better change lab for the best one in your area where machines suggested are available (they are not new machines, abbott available since early 2000 and the best machine for hbv)
