Why hbe+ is more at risk of liver damage than hbe- ?

+ indicates active replication. however this also happens in some hbe- when mutants occur.

I think you are still at risk if there is active viral replication. The key to treatment is the loss the surface antigen and your body create antibodies. Then it's all about managing and maintaining good health.
