hbvdna alone defines nothing, it is not even the number of virions or infected cells

to define the infection you need in order of importance:
hbsag quantity in iu/ml
hbv genotype
hbeag/hbeab
fibroscan

and then but less important to finish define the overall picture:
hbvdna

Hi Steff,

My mom is 53, she got diagnosed with hep b few years ago, she goes to a good government hospital, it is the only place in India where research on hep b is being conducted.

I went to the doctor with her today, the doctor said that it's all fine, in the inactive phase, mom does not need any medications and that she just needs to come every 3 months for LFT.

I wanted to give u the details, but they write only no.s and not what it relates to (because of so many patients);

What I wanted to know is that they did a no. of tests in the beginning, but now they only conduct her LFT test, they say if they'll find any problem they'll start medications. So, is it fine to get only LFT done? Or other tests should also be taken on regular basis?
