hep b q. help

Hello there, I am seeking for your help. My boyfriend and I are concerning about our immunity status regarding HepB. My blood test result shown: Hepatitis B surface antibody quant > 1000 mIU/ml while my boyfriend blood test shown: Hep B Core Ab, Tot Positive. Hep B surface Ab 77.77H. What does it mean? It seems like my boyfriend has HepB positive and I wonder if I am protected from getting HepB from him? I have been worrying about that. Thank you so much for your help, I hope to hear from you soon.

hi!

i posted question long time ago regarding my friend here. since then i became interested reading your forum.  being curious and confused i also like to ask questions...tnx in advance for answering...

if lab results is like these: hbsag-negative,anti hbs-positive,anti hbc IgG-positive,antibody to HIV-negative,anti hep c-negative and LFT's-normal...

the virus is already cleared by the immune system right?is it lifetime?no need to do anything and to worried about right?

what is the difference between anti hbc IgG and anti hbc IgM?a positive anti hbc IgG infectious or a positive anti hbc IgM?

is it possible that the virus is still there in the body after clearing it?and can still be converted to a positive hbsag and be infectious?

sorry for too much questions...tnx a lot...

Yup...Your Dr. is correct, "everything's fine."

Both you and your boyfriend are negative for surface antigen and positive for surface antibodies so neither of you have anything to worry about as far as HBV goes. You are both immune to the virus.

Congratulations!

Yes, you are both immune with antibodies.

Yes, you are both immune regardless of HBcAb status.

Core antibodies are not contagious.

the surface antigen test came out (negative) for both of us.
so that indicates that we are both immune  with the presence of surface antibodies ?

is it true that as long as we have surface antibodies present we are immune, regardless of the core antibodies total status being either positive or negative  ?

is the core antibodies positive contagious ?

im sorry im just a little confused, the doctor didnt mention anything. just stated everything's fine.

Hep B core Ab positive indicates that he was infected with HBV at some point in his life, but does not mean that he has HBV now.

His surface Ab is 77.77 which should indicate that he is immune. However, it is possible to have both surface antigen and surface antibody be positive at the same time although it is extremely rare. So you really need the results of a surface antigen (HBsAg) test to be absolutely sure, but 99.9% chance that he is immune.

Check out the HBV welcome page for some basics that should help with in understanding HBV and lab results:

Hope this helps
