hepatitis B functional cure: How 'soon' is 'soon'?

With all the studies and trials ongoing for a functional cure for hepatitis B, When is the likely period of getting a cure? I have been 'hearing', 'promising', 'soon'. My ALT level is <20 but this thing still makes me tired and not living optimally. I have even heard of PEGINTERFERON α-2A COMBINED WITH NUCLEOS(T)IDE. How viable is it?

Hi Stef2011,

thanks for the response. Saw one of your previous posts on this... just the questions and rambles in my mind right now -  do you know of anyone who has successfully done this? besides, the stress of >365 days of injection, arrghh. Wouldn't still mind though if (when) I am sure of the stats

My answer as to how soon, is soon... not "soon enough!" Should have been done years ago!

check the posts, the cure is peginterferon add on after long time on nucs.when hbsag is less than 1000iu/ml the cure rate is 91% and response 100%.this means even those just responding will end with very low hbsag which will slowly clear byitslef or by another round of peg
