Your results mean you had prior exposure to HBV, you have cleared the HBV, and now you are immune to HBV.

"hep b ag negative"

what test for hep B did you take

there is the initial "S"  ag test - hbsag -  testing for SURFACE hence hbSag
if you are positive for the S antigen then you have hep B if you are negative then you're in the clear.

follows this test if you are S antigen postive is hepatits B profile which will test for the E antigen
if you are E antigen positive then you're replicating and treatment maybe needed depending on your doctor's advice
if you are negative then you may be an inacitve or healthy carrier in which case you need only monitoring all provided the count of HBV DNA be in your facor with LOW to UND number of DNA.

talk to your doctor again and get some more info please.. a completre liver and hep B profile will help better understand ur case..

remember a lot of hep B carriers are unique in thier status and situation..

good luck
