i was hbsag + for over 8 yrs . now my recent tests shows hbsag - hbsab + quant. 17.2
u/ml and hbvdna by pcr undetectable ....what does that indicate?

if u read any of the test interpretations on the web you will find that hbcab result depends on the result of hbsag and hbsab and they all say hbcab stays for life. since i was hbsag + i must be hbcab + too

Why you didn't ask your doctor why he ordered that test ? I don't know if HBcAb should dissappear after chronic recovery, any comments ?

by hbsab + nd hbsag - indicate recovery ..... so why should i test for hbcab anyway?

I think your doctor wants to check HBcAb to exclude occult hbv. But since your hbv dna is undetectable and you have some HBsAb I guess it's rather low risk. Any comments ?

Im 33 yrs old male who tested hbsag positive in 2006. i dont know when and how i got it

At that time ( 2006 ) the test result was

hbsag positive
hbsab negative
hbeag negative
hbeab positive
hbvdna by pcr undetectable

the doctor ( who is a specialist ) told me that no treatment needed since I was an inactive carrier.
I had no treatment whatsoever.

I had not done any follow up tests until 2013 and that test came different , hbsag came negative , but hbsab was also negative

I have recently done another follow up test ( last June 2015) and the result came different as well. This time my hbsab is positive with a titer of 17.2 u/ml

my doctor suspected super infection and to rule that out he ordered agroup of tests and they came as follows:

hcvab   negative
hiv combo ab & ag  negative

liver status

note: I've never been asked to test for hbcab , j don’t know why.

Now my question is
Does my recent result indicate a recovery?
If so, do I have to tell future partner about my past illness?
What about the low hbsab titer?

According to the law you have to tell if you are HBsAg+ but I guess it would be fair to tell so partner anyway so she can get vaccinated just in case some reactivation or occult infection (veeeery low probability)

It's quite low level but rather protective, congratulations :)
But remember that after resolving from chronic hbv, you should be under doctors' monitoring all the time, even if risk is very low. Ultrasound once 6 months.
Have you ever done fibroscan/biopsy ?

yes , my anti-hbs is 17.2 and ive done the test in another lab and it came as follows,
anti-hbs 64.4 u/ml . that's confusing.
