Cipla is well known pharma company in India also ciplas drugs are safe and effective as that of gileads tdf

Thx for the info. How did you check for the drug purity?

Gilead Collaborates with Three Indian Companies for
Generic Versions of Viread in the Developing World
these are small drug makers, not like cipla or lupin, so i think all tdf versions are very safe
this said some drugs are not good as generics in general, produced in india or elsewhere.sadly one should check for purity like i did for nitazoxanide to know for sure which is best
india is the biggest producer worldwide of all drugs, it may not be known to public but the drugs you buy everywhere, even those with patents, are often produced in india and simply relabeled in other countries and also producers in india are checked by fda since most of the drugs are produced there.so it is not that if you buy in US you have a better chemical for sure
viread itself is very cheap in india thanks to competition, entecavir lost patent, it had no rights to patent the compound, actually even tdf was an already know substance so india did not allow the patent
by the way when i used nitazoxanide to try clear hbsag i had a test for purity on drugs said to be produced in US (they are not, they are produced in cheap countries and just relabeled), the worst was that produced in US (much worse) and the highest purity was from lupin india
I use Entehep and Tenohep manufactured by Zydus Cadilla which is another reputed company like cipla and ranbaxy....The tenohep differs in color with viread...the former is white while the latter is blue as i heard.don't know about tenvir(cipla)..
I see.
I live in one of the most developed western countries where all the companies must go trough rigorous tests and checks, especially pharmaceutical companies. There was a period of time when I had issues with sleeping patterns and couldn't fall asleep until very late. I got a prescription from my GP for a sleeping tablets...I took those tablets and had no side-effects. Then few months later I stayed few nights working very late and again lost the sleeping pattern so I again asked the GP to give me the very same medicines and he gave me the same prescription. So that second time I went to the pharmacy and they asked me whether I would like to use a generic version which is chemically identical to the original prescription but almost twice cheaper. I went for the generic version, but as soon as I started taking it I started experiencing side effects which I didn't experience with the original version (that must have been tested in clinical trials...). From that point on I was done with generic versions of medicines.
cipla is a reputed company and maintains strict regulations in manufacturing till distribution. Its trustworthy blindly.
How expensive is original entecavir in India compared with original tenofovir?
WHO guidelines decided not to incorporate interferon not because they think it is not good, but because they created their guidelines directed at poorer countries where regular monitoring for interferon might be either to expensive or not efficient. They state this fact in their guidelines. Did you read the guidelines?
Therefore, you are not correctly implying that his doctor shouldn't prescribe him the interferon. It simply didn't work as he was one of the cca 70% nonresponders to inferferon.
On the other side I would agree. I would pay extra money and take Viread (off course if financially possible) instead of an indian product (indian products and services known to be of a low quality)...just to make sure...as we are talking about health here. I would also rather take an original entecavir (Baraclude) then an indian made tenofovir.
I'm currently taking Viread. I think both India generics and the original US FDA approved drug Viread would most likely be the same but you also have to bear in mind that Gilead is the manufacturer that took the drug to US clinical trial and is subject to US's rigorous FDA control. India generics are subject to much less regulation although Cipla is also a reputable drugs manufacturer in India. Gilead's Viread is the only approved TDF drug in the US right now because of its patents so I have to take it here. If you are not sensitive to price, you can still take Viread to be safe. Ultimately this is your life.
By the way, your doctor should have not prescribed you to Peg_IFN a-2a, it has a lot more side-effects and it’s not as effective as Tenofovir. Refer to the WHO guideline to chronic Hep B -
http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/releases/2015/hepatitis-b-guideline/en/
It specifically recommends the use of tenofovir or entecavir for the treatment of chronic hep B.
Hope this helps.
they are exactly the same, if you can buy in india they are about the same price there thanks to competition
