cronic hbv kills only the more than 50% people not aware of it at all (same thing as hcv).
they have no synthoms and you feel perfectly healthy until the end....
all those aware of being hbv carrier will never have health issues since some don t get to cirrhosis/liver cancer anyway even without treatment and the most are inactive carriers without any liver damage.
by monitoring liver damage by fibroscan or old biopsies or just by monitoring hbv replication anybody knows when to stop liver damage by antivirals and never reach any dangerous illness like cirrhosis
hbv is not a problem since 2005 when antivirals with no resistance had become available and transplants for hbv cirrhosis have droped to very very low levels today
