meaning of hbv not detected
Diagnosed hbv with viral load 6450,hbeag negative,hbeab positive,started on tenofovir in June 2016 and by December 2016 not detected please friend kindly let me know the meaning of this,still on drug.
hbv virus is a small DNA retrovirus, once you have it, you will have it for life, you can never get rid of it with today's technology or drug. there are multiple components of this virus, HB DNA viral, HB surface antigen, HBV core antigen, assume your DNA viral load is undetectable, without further information about HB surface antigen level, it is hard to decipher where are you at.
a general rule of thumb is when HB surface antigen is undetected over a year, HB DNA viral undetected, and HB surface antibody is detected 10ui/ml or higher, then very likely your own immune system is able to suppress the virus on its own, even though cccDNA keeps the HB virus inside your body for life, but by then should be safe to stop the pill
