please help

a girl gave me an oral sex last Friday. then she told me that she is a hepatitis b carrier. i rushed to my doctor's office and took a blood test on Monday. my test results came back with hbsag positive.

My doctor says that most likely i didn't get it from her. His reasoning is that it takes about several weeks before it shows in the blood test. My doctor suggests that i need to inform my current and past partner about my situation.

is this true? I am so worried.

--Yes, your HBsAg could not have come from that girl.

You need a liver panel to understand your liver status.

Okay, you win.....it's much more exciting than the way I found out I have HepB.

If you are serious, yes, your doctor gave you responsible and sound advice.

Yes, i am seriou. this is how i found out about it.:(

I am waiting for the result of the second test to come back. I hope my doctor can tell me if I have an acute or chronic.

I am so confused/scared.

Last time when i spoke to my doctor, i didn't even know what test he did for me. Neither do I remember the indicators he looked at. He went through them so quickly, and I was going through motions because I was so schocked.

He said he is going to check virus load on the second test. What does that Mean? Does that mean he thinks i have chronic? Am I over worried? I have trouble thinking of anything else but the test and my status now. :(

Please don't get yourself in a tizzy about this. I am in a similar situation as you at the moment waiting to see if I clear the virus. But the more you get stressed the more difficult it will be for your body to fight the nasty bogey man off. And even if you do go on to develop chronic, then you WILL cope. You will smile again and you will soon be strong and fit and happy. I really really do understand...but don't give in and keep going. Keep in touch with this forum as it is great for giving info and all on it are sympathetic. You will learn loads by reading through other peoples' posts and that will keep you well versed on how to keep healthy.

I would suggest that when you go to your doc, you ask him to print out all your labs so you can take them away. Viral load is your HBV DNA (is that right Steven?) and it appears at the same time as the HBsAg and if I am right declines at the same time too. I think it is another indicator of infectivity???? Look at this site:
http://www.cdc.gov/hepatitis/Resources/Professionals/Training/Serology/gr_hbv_acute.htm
It's a very good interactive show on acute stages of HBV. It's good for starters. It also has info on that site for chronic stages in blood labs.
But remember....chin up and walk on! This virus may be powerful but with the intelligence of man and with good care and monitoring it is NOT going to get you.

Go here, read and learn:

From how you describe it, you are probably chronic.

how can this possibly happen?

My doc just called with the results for the second test. He said I have nothing. The second blood test shows nothing. no virus load. I don't have a Hep B.

I am so shocked, and don't know what to believe or not any more. How can this happen? Can anyone explain?

He wants me to go back for a blood test 2 months later. But i am sitting here and having a hard time comprehending the whole thing. Does that mean the first blood test was wrong? Can my second blood test be wrong? :((((

also, what do u guys think i should do?

Should I do a test with a different doctor, just to be sure? I am so confused. I have no idea what's going on with his office :((

What is the chance this happens (first test says positive, and second test a week later says nothing)

I guess I should be happy that my second test comes back with nothing.

is your doc talking just about HBV DNA or did he actually say that your HBsAg was negative too?

The doc says HbsAg.

Now he tells me that it could be something happened during the lab work (not sure the first time, or the second time).

He wants me back 2 months later for another blood work.

I am so frustrated.

might be that you were acute and have since lost the virus. Or perhaps a mistake has been made??? Geez if it's a lab mistake I would be very very angry.

Here is the results of my two reports:

First report:

HBSAG - positive
HBSAB - Negative
HBCAB - Negative

second report:

LIV
all liver function normal
HBSAG - Negative
HBSAB - Negative
HBEAG - Negative
HBEAB - Negative
HBV DNAPCR < 1.6

Which one is wrong? They are only a week apart. :(

I am so confused. My doc. doesn't' want to do more blood test until 2 months later. What should I do?

It also looks that he didn't both finding out if he was suspecting an acute or chronic Hep B from the first test.

Should I seek opinion from a second doctor? Should I do more blood test soon?

I guess a follow up question for my report 1 -- how can some one be hbsag positive, but hbcab negative? I thought when HBSAG positive, HBCAB also needs to be positive.

I think you are mixing up HBcAb and HBcAg

Maybe the first HBsAg is a false postive.  Just follow up with your doctor at this point.  Good luck.
