HEPATITIS B COMMUNITY
third try at this being more clear

third try at this being more clear

A few weeks ago I decided to get the twinrix vaccination.  the very next day I decided I better get tested for Hepatitus (hepatitis) B.  So the vacination was shot in my arm the day before and the next day I had my blood drawn.....Friday vaccination shot.....saturday blood drawn.  About 4 days later my test results for Hep B came back.  I tested positive for the HBsAG and negative for the HBsAb.  Well the doctor couldn't confirm what my staus was so I went to my family doctor and he tested me.  The results came back and I was HBsAG negative and HBsAB negative.

So with that I could assume I am not carrying the Hep b Virus.  Do you think that I was positive for the HbsAg on the first test because of the vacccination shot the day before?  Also my ALT was 20 and normal is between 7 and 56 and my AST was 18 and normal is between 5-40.

I'm just worried because I feel like maybe I could have gotten a false negative on the second test.

Can I get some feed back on this?

I forgot to mention the first test said positive abnormal for HBsAg and said I could still be a potential carrier for hep b and come back in a month.

Also I have found 2 sites on-line that did say after a Vaccination you can get a false positive for up two 18 days and the other said 3-4 weeks.  I know the vac is not the actual virus but a synthetic version.

Cut and pasted the links here.

Is hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) detectable in the serum after vaccination with the hepatitis B vaccine?
A false positive reading for hepatitis B surface antigen can persist for 3-4 weeks after a dose of hepatitis B vaccine. (6/26/03)
