post treatment testing

I just completed 12 weeks of Sovaldi, Olysio and Ribavirin.  I have heard differing views about when to do a lab to assure that I am viral free. Some say two weeks after treatment, others more. I am/was genotype 1a with Q80 mutation; I am post transplant 3-1/2 years now, thus also on immune suppressants. 12 weeks ago I was grade 2, stage 3 fibrosis. At 4-weeks into treatment the virus was non-detectable, as well as at 10-weeks; my enzymes fell into the low teens immediately after starting treatment: All good news.

So, does anyone have suggestions as tp how long to wait before getting a viral load test that would indicate I am virus free?

Hello dgr56,
My IDS checked me at 4weeks into treatment (UD), at 12 weeks EOT (UD) and I am going to be checked in a couple weeks 12 weeks post treatment and then in 12 more weeks 24 weeks EOT and that is it. There is a debate as to whether 12 weeks UD EOT or 24 weeks UD EOT is considered cured. I won't make that deceleration until 24 weeks UD EOT.  I will still have to have alternating US or MRIs every six months to monitor of HCC.

You should be monitored for your blood work by a specialist who works in liver transplant center not that you need transplant . These Drs.are quite good on maintaining their patients who are on the medications your taking.
I wish you well.

Flyinlynn answered the question, some people are tested 4 weeks after finishing treatment while others wait until 12 weeks.

I hope that you are doing well.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I just yesterday completed the 12 week treatment. During treatment I was non-detectable at the 4th and 10th week (via a viral load test) Now, I am asking how long after completing the meds do I wait before testing again to assure that the virus is cleared and will not rebound? I am not being treated by a liver clinic only my local G.I. who doesn't have much info on these sorts of things.
Thanks in advance for any insights.

Hi
12 weeks SVR post treatment is considered cured. Many have been tested earlier to get an indication at SVR at 4 weeks is a good sign I think I heard 98.5% likelihood of SVR 12 if you are still clear at 4 weeks

Good luck hope you make it
