kicking up my heels ! 24 weeks, end of tx, UND!

Just got the good news, and I really can still click my heels together!

I didn't post when tx ended on the 21st, waiting to see these lab results first.
As geno 2, I did 24 weeks interfero/ribavarin.

At week 14 my peg dosage was dropped to 135, at week 18 to 90. Riba went from 800 to 600 at week 15.
I've always been sensitive to meds, am small ( 5'1' ~ 102lbs)   and feel I have a good sense of what's right, for me.
Nevertheless, because of my reduction, I'm much relieved to see these results.

As many of you know my situation is a bit unique from most here.
Three years ago, I was preparing for a liver transplant.
In the post transplant setting cirrhosis can set in much more rapidly than pre-transplant.
So, when my last biopsy showed edging into stage 2 from stage 1, I took my hepatologist's advice to begin tx.

In three weeks I celebrate my three year anniversary of my transplant, finally free of this virus.

BTW: Although my energy is still low, I'm happy at how rapidly my mind is returning to a more 'normal' state.

I keep wanting to compose a thankyou letter to everyone but don't know where to begin.
So for now, I will thank you all for putting up with my emotional outbursts, apologies to any and all who took the brunt of my rages. Please, know, it wasn't personal.

Wishing everyone inner contentment.
OH

Orphanedhawk:  I feel like I know you.  I read all your comments.  You are so generous always sharing hour knowledge.  Today, I was by the coffee machine at my job.  I never before drank coffee in the afternoon.  But, there I was, saying Orphanedhawk says, "drink cofee - plenty of it"  So I pour me a cup and said -"here to OH"..... - I am so happy to hear this news coming from you.  You are encouraging and brave.  I send you the biggesgy hyber hug ever!!!!

You do not need a co-writer.  Your simple honesty is eloquent.  Hmmmm Maybe Hector and Andiamo would contribute???  Is this destiny calling?

So blessed our paths crossed.  I learned so much from you.  I can't thank you enough.  Elizabeth

I idea of you and your daughter and family writing this history of your journey would open many eyes and only encourage great hope and a direction that many would not even contemplate.  Let's face it - your incredible will to beat this thing is what each of us needs to hone on so many levels.  It would be cathartic for so many and I will buy more than one book!

Each of us has a story worth telling.  Our need to communicate and compare notes and bear witness to one another is enriching and flexes the soul.  You have flexed my sorry spirit in a way only you could.  This is not only a good deal but a miracle of sorts.  I feel very priviledged.  Amen, Awoman, Achild

Reading your responses has brought me joy and teary eyes.
Thank you one and all.

Not knowing where to begin in thanking everyone, and not wanting to leave any of my old and new friends out, I will limit this to a few particulars.

I have to begin with Mikesimon, the only person I knew of who rid himself of the virus post transplant.
ms, thankyou  for your  concise way of stating things, digging up incredible research and sharing so much. Your guidance and friendship have greatly assisted many of us along this journey.

To Elaine and Eureka, a special thanks for showing warmth and compassion throughout your  most challenging of ordeals.
You two are truly inspirational.

One reply surprised me in a good way. Libzo, the thought that my story encouraged your daughter to offer to be a living donor for you, if you were to need a transplant, is amazing. If my experience can actually create changes, then, well, maybe I will have to write a book.

Thanks to all who've been along for the ride whether from early on, or in recent weeks.

We are all here together, not only striving for  a healthy life free of hep C but living on this planet.
After my transplant,  I lay in my bed in the ICU, crazy with surgical psychosis and morphine induced hallucinations.
What saved me, bringing me up from the depths of dark crazy dreams, was a simple meditation~wishing loving kindness for all beings.
Despite logic, and what we see and hear everyday, this is still  my wish.

Have a good life everyone.

I have been waiting for this wonderful achievement from you knowing your other middle name is determination.  What an inspiration you are!  I think I may be happiest for your amazing daughter.

When I shared one of your amazing threads with my own daughter, she offered me part of her liver if tx didn't work.  This small offering of yours brought me and mine even closer.  I love you and your indominatable spirit.  Your contribution of your shared experience gave me so much guidance and strength.  Could not have done it with out you.  I bow to my fellow and supreme warrior!  Joy Joy
