1 1/2 Years Still Virus Free ( I was Type 2B)... also a question for any type 3A

by Manoa, Feb 13, 2004 12:00AM
Hello people, its been a very long time! I'm sorry to take up posting space but I have a question. What is the proposed treatment duration for a friend with genotype 3A? is it 24 or 48 weeks?.....

And also, I wish to give some peace to all, and a special ray of hope to any genotype 2B's, I am now 1 1/2 years virus free, and completely healthy and happy!!!!!!

Aloha,
Manoa

3s treat just like 2s.  1s and 4s are 48 weeks and 2s and 3s are 24.

I,too, am 2b-excuse me, WAS 2B. I cl'ed May 2002, fin tx Oct 2002 and now at Feb 2004 still cl.  No matter what one's health level was before tx and cl'in', life after cl'ing is better and life after tx and cl'ing is only going to get better-different, b/better.

it depends on the condition of your liver no matter what geno type you are, most GI's now (because of new data) choose to go a full year of tx if your liver has reached stage 3 fibrosis or worse even if your geno 1,2,3- most GI's now will treat 48 or more when your liver has reached stage 3 fib. or worse. It has been proven to get your liver in better condition going longer with tx and gives you more of a chance of staying SVR by going longer-- HD

To: JUST GENO 1, no a or b after it?
I wanna congratulate everyone that's achieved SVR. Also HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!! I'm hoping to start treatment within the next couple of months. Is anyone reading this a GENO 1? I'm just 1..no a or b? I haven't read any post since DEC of just a 1? Does this mean its a different geno than the 1a or 1b? I asked my doctor when I got the results and he just didn't have an answer for me? If someone has the answer I'd appreciate it?
Positive thoughts your way, Annette
I do have an appt in Mar with a Hepatologist finally, hopefully I can get the answer if it makes that much of a difference in treatment

Aloha to you, too.  Thank you for reporting in so far beyond tx.  There are so few at that stage who bother to send a message here!  Your picture has intrigued me since I started. Have a great life!  Maj Neni

I'm 3a and the treatment time I am told is 6 months

by Oldjogger, Feb 16, 2004 12:00AM
I must be stunned, but I cannot seem to be able to get in to post a question.  So here's my question:  Do any of you know of anyone taking TB therapy along with Pegetron therapy?  I would like to talk to find out how it is going.

Hello,

Did you try the tx? If yes how did 3a react to it. I'm also 3a although initially was diagnosed as 1a.

Many thanks
