1 Year PCR

Hi everyone!  Well both my hubby and I made the 1 year mark,,,Clear! Yeah!!  Thanks for all the support for everyone as I honestly don't think I would have stuck it out some months if not for you all.  For the newbies,,,,My husband found out Nov 2003 by blood work,,,he had it.  I went 2 weeks later for testing just because I was spouse and of course, I was shocked that I had it also.  Geno 1A's,,,,my viral load was 8.5 million and his was 685,000.  My enzymes had always been normal running on alt about 18 and his was running high when they wanted to test him for hep.  I now know that my alt was running high for me because since clearing the virus,,,it has been 7, or 8 so I would have been one of those ones that would have never even known I had it.  We both started tx in Jan 04 for 52 weeks and finished end of Jan 05,  We both cleared 1st pcr 3 months on tx and I had to get on procrit.  It wasn't easy all the time during tx but we were determined to give it our best and try to get through the ordeal without killing each other. I have met so many really good friends and caring people through Medhelp! Thanks so much and I will continue to come to help out or offer any advice that may help anyone.  The tx does work and when you get off,,,Your life will be back again and even more so blessed as you will be so thankful!

Hon, I am so jealous! The more I hear about 1a's clearing, the more it makes me think of tx'g again...I just keep thinking that I could be half way thru already if I didn't stop...grrrr...

K2 you are confusing me...but you are clever...not really too mean so they throw you out but not nice either so you get everybody anoyed...odd mix and I wonder what the point is...? Maybe you just don't feel good lately? I know how that is, I don't feel good either lots of the time but I still try to be polite to people like I expect them to be to me...PEACE? However, I have to admit I do look for your posts cause I wonder what you are up to next...just like driving past an accident...I want to see what bloody bodies might be laying about...bad human! bad!

Great news! Congratulations! Another 1a makes SVR.

I too am genotype 1a. I was undetectable at 12 weeks, and still undetectable when they checked again at 24 weeks. I'm doing Pegasys and Ribavirin, and the plan is for me to do 48 weeks. I'm on week 26 now.

Why did you go to 52 weeks? I've wondered about trying to talk my doctor into extending my tx, but I'm not sure that he would. I'd need to make a good argument. I'd rather stop at 48 weeks because it's no fun, but I don't want to have to do tx again. How did you decide to do 52 weeks?

Well let's see. When I went through a period of eating real healthy, supplements and all, I felt healthy and I didn't have any sx. Course I wasn't on treatment. I would think if I ate as well now(adjusting for what's okay with the meds and liver condition), I'd probably feel healthier and not notice the sx as much. My keeping to that plan is a different story. If you can do it -I imagine it would help.
Remember though there's a lot of opinions on what's good or isn't for the liver. Some are okay pre tx but not on tx. I try and keep it simple(due to a broken thinker). A multi no iron an ester-c. I show what I take to my doc before I do any switching. Sounds like you've done a lot of research there anyways.
