and I would like to know what else is in that stack of reading materials by your turkish coffee?
good job
TY for your shared knowledge and experiences
The "Turkish Journal of Gastroenterology"......over morning coffee?? HAHAHAHAHAHA I LOVE IT!
Several question come to MY mind now.
Was that "Turkish" coffee?
Can one get a subscription delivered here?
If so, is it in English?
I am figuring that if not, then I would need an interpreter.
Now aren't Turkish men allowed to have many wives?
So.....In the interest if my fellow heppers.....I could subscribe to That Journal.....order myself a Turkish Mail Order wife to translate....and some Turkish coffee.....and be ALL set!
I MUST run this past my wife.
It makes SO much sense to me.
I am SURE she will totally understand!
(yet another GREAT INDY plan is born)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Seriously though........I think that info is pretty sound. I have read some of that quasi-species stuff before. It is usually stuff that only researchers care about. But isn't that the discussion here? There are so many question marks with Hcv and tx that this all DOES fall back into the realm of the researchers.
GOOD JOB Scott.............
The difference between European genotype 1's and USA genotype 1's is thought to be the high rate of obesity (high BMI's) and fatty livers in the USA.

Heres a link for a 12 week study in Europe that was weight based and those who cleared at 4 weeks were 88% chance of SVR to stop at 12 weeks and those who werent were lower ( i think is was 66 % SVR) Europe seems to have differant results ( better than us)

This is my third day off of the Riba. Did 24 weeks - at 12 was <200 VL. At 22 weeks was <5 Heptimax. Don't know if I have any fibrosis but I wanted an earlier ( 22 Weeks ) viral check with the super sensitive test to make sure- other wise we were going to extend tx 12 weeks. I still awfull. Hope I can get back some of the old self sooner than the doc said today. He said 1 to 2 months. Hope this is informative.
hi ranger, your one i watched...but lost track of...i am 3a too and always looked at you as a commrade...i'm sorry you didn't clear and even after all the good responding...hopefully this one will be the final blow...i'll keep you in my prayers,
sandi
Im a geno 3a, i was clear at 12 weeks and 24 weeks. i stoped at 32 weeks and was still clear.my dr pushed my to do 48 weeks do to the stage of fibrosis on my liver [3] . when i went back to the dr for my 3 month post blood work i found out it came back. now Im retreating for 48 weeks.so i think in some cases the longer the better.
I think the reason Europe has "better" results re Geno 2/3 is that those genotypes are more prevelant over there than here, thus they are studied more. Roche is now doing a worlwide phase 4 trial for 2/3s that will study efficacy of 16 vs 24 week treatment.
As Tony says.....I guess anything is possible.
BUT......
If you don't clear and find that you've relapsed after you're done.......Then the RE-treatment time goes up to 48 weeks.
ANYBODY FEEL LUCKY??
The standard tratment time for geno-types 2 or 3 is 24 weeks. I guess anything is possable, but I dont think 12 weeks is long enough. Here is a good link to alot of information about Hep-C
