1999 report to congress

A few posts back I kinda let my emotions run wild.  Some times when I see how people on this board let this virus control their lives 24/7 I just can't help myself. Sure it can be a terrible virus for some. For some of you that ask why dosen't the Gov do something I remind them of the 1999 report to congress on the affect of hep c in the armed services.

http://www.bloodbook.com/hep-vet.html

What the services did was take all the collected blood from recruits between 1948 and 1954 and determined which ones had hep c then looked all these people up and Guess what?

In a study of 8,568 U.S. military recruits who had a blood sample collected and stored between 1948 and 1954, 0.4% had antibody to hepatitis C virus (anti-HCV).23 As in recent military populations, HCV infection was more frequent in nonwhite race/ethnic groups. Among 26 recruits with HCV infection, there was no increase in mortality or liver cancer during over forty years of follow-up. Other studies have provided mixed results, indicating both favorable and poor long term prognosis from chronic hepatitis C virus infection.24-27

Draw your own conclusions. Congress did.

has a completely different set of priorites/agenda than the general population. They don't worry too much about alzheimers or people falling and busting a hip either.

Just like congress to draw stats from post WWII through Korea to use for up to date information in 1999 on Hepatitus (hepatitis) and Veterans.

http://www.hcvets.com/

A much higher number were effected during Vietnam War.  42% white.

Congress did....give me a break.

Wow
How in the world can the goverment get info from over 40 years ago unless they go back that far?  Now don't tell me;  You are on TX.  The brain fog shows. Sometimes people on TX  remind me of a drowing man trying to bring others down with him.

Most of us are just looking for the best info we can find.  I am 53, bx 2-3, I have a family, 5 kids and a wonderful wife. I need a reasonably accurate prognosis as I don't want to leave a mess behind, whenever I go. I have started a new business, purchased a new home and am moving to a new town as I am deeply involved with a group of believers. My life goes forward. BUT, if there is a chance I may leave this place a little early I have the responsibility to do what I can to prepare. Head in the sand?? I don't think so. The ones with thier heads in the sand are the ones that don't play the hand dealt them. Ya can't bluff your way to a healthy liver. Many live with hcv with litttle damage, many don't. How much damage has your liver taken? later, jerry

Our Lord Jesus Christ told us, "whomsoever shall believe in Me, shall have everlasting life."

His love for us is incredible and we are all undeserving...but yet, He sacrificed His Own His Son to die on a cross, so that he could cleanse us from our deadly sins.

What He has done for me..personally would take a book. He has chastized me, I have shamed His Name due to stubborness, rebellion and much, much more, yet He still loves me.

This isn't the place for this but what the heck--funny how you picked one word out of 150 to berate. You might want to look inward to see what REALLY is knawing at you. You might find that it is a voice. You have a tender spot, we all do. later, jerry

Well ya know what? Quit while you're ahead. I'm still on meds and I am trying real hard not to tell you what I would like to, but you might just push me too far so shut your mouth now.

Jesus loves ya by the way,,,,,its just me who doesn't really care for you,,,but I'll ask Jesus to help me with that.
