ok i have not been to the dr in san diego yet i go on the 10th of dec. my familey dr is the one who did the blood test he said i have hcv genotype lipa 1a no clule what this is ? any help

It means you are genotype 1 which is one of the toughtest strains with a cure rate (old data we believe the numbers have gone way up in our favor) of about 50%.  It's the most common in the USA.

But don't fret too much I had both 1A and 1B and have been cured for almost three years - it definitely is killable!

You may want to visit various posts on this forum to find links to sites which can help you get a better understand on what Hep C is and what can be done about it in preparation for your meeting with your specialist.  This would also help you get a better idea of what you can expect the doctor will be looking to do in the near future to help you in deciding what course of action you may want to take.

Both can be important to allow you to have a meaningful discussion with your doctor when you meet which should also help in plotting a course of action to take.
