1st injection of tx!!!

1st injection of tx!!!

Hello guys, just had my first injection of tx about 2 hours ago. Feel ok. No flu like symptoms just a little bit tired and that it and ofcourse kinda woozy. Maybe I'll be one of the lucky ones. About how long should I expect the flulike symptoms if I have any. 3,4, 5 hours later?

I'm readyyyyyyyyyy for thisssssssssssss. Let get it onnnnnn!!!!!

I didn't feel anything till about 7 hours after my first shot. Be sure to drink lots of water. It really does make the sx a lot easier on you.

Congratulations on starting the battle against the invader!!

LOL, you should cut and paste this to a journal somewhere so you can reread it at week 40 of treatment :o).

You just might want to take a couple of acetaminophen now, in the event you don’t feel quite as sharp later in the day. Both of my treatments, I woke the day after the first injections with what felt like a pretty decent whiskey hangover. Then, not too bad for weeks, until fatigue established itself.

Good luck, and let us know how things go—

Happy injecting and good luck! I didn't feel anything for about 6 hours, at that point it was unmistakeable. After the first injection the next ones were much better but still a pretty rough two days each time. Lately I hardly feel it!

Everyone is different though. I remember reading a post from someone who did attain SVR that said he never felt anything from the injections and that it could've been water as far as he was concerned!

Enjoy the ride, you have a lot of company in treatment right now! Water all through tx and tylenol during the injection days really helps me as others mentioned.

report back in 3-4 hours!

Yes, take the tylenol I really think they helped me alot.  I never got the flulike symptoms at all until about week 30. Of course I got every other side known to man but not that one, the one I was expecting ;)

You sure could be one of the lucky ones.  They are out there (mostly not in here but they are out in the real world living life).

Keep your positive attitude. As much as the water helps - the positive attitude will keep you on track. Without it, your odds go way down - someone will say where is the science behind that but if you get depressed and you quit you cannot win......remember, you CAN do this - dont contemplate every little ache and pain just think about how your liver is going to be appreciating not being under constant attack!!! That will help you feel great ;)

2 hours ain't quite enough time. Patience is a virtue.

Lots of people don't get hit hard or at all with the first shot, so I sometimes wonder why I got it so bad that first night.

Now let's see - I didn't do what the nurse told me to do (take Tylenol, take it easy and seriously drink water).

After she gave me that first shot at the hospital, I drove some guests around town, made them a fancy dinner, generally had a great time and THEN, seven hours later,  whammo, malaria, shakes, shivers and trains crashing through me.

The rest of tx was a drag but nothing felt as bad as that first night for me, except for two other brief episodes. It was the only time I seriously considered quititng.

So you still have time to take that Tylenol, guzzle that water and take it easy and if I could do it again, I'd listen to that advice, even if it wouldn't have changed a thing.

Hoping the best for you but one way or the other, you can keep trudging on to last shot day and that's what's the most important.

Let us know in the morning how you made out. What did your doc tell you to take for shot night?

That's great! I got a fever the evening of the day after my first shot. I wasn't expecting it so didn't take anything until I was feeling pretty bad, so if you notice anything starting to feel funky, just go ahead and take your OTC pain meds and maybe it won't get very bad... if you have a delayed reaction like I did.

that's terrific you, like me, seem to be one of the lucky ones where that goes. Let's hope your positivity carries you all the way through nice and gently!
