Dr. Cecil believes that after your 6 mo negative PCR, you can consider yourself CURED. I am with him.
The chances of relapse is extremely low(less than 2%) and mostly in persons that had severe damage to begin with.
ENJOY!

I too was so scared when I found out I was a 1A. I am so happy to hear of another 1 clearing. Heck I am so happy to hear of any one clearing, regardless of what genotype. What a relief too now be able to say you are CURED. Yes, I agree with Cuteus. If you are clear at 6 months and especially at 1 year than I consider it a CURE. It took me two tries to get there, but I made it. Thankfully there are people like you that can do it in one try. It helps others see that this can be done. It also helps others when we stay involved here long after the fact that we are cured. Glad to see that you will be one of them.
Time to celebrate!!!!!!!
I'm a 40 year old 1A who finished my 48 weeks of Pegasys/Copeg last October. Got my 8 mos post treatment labs back yesterday and still undetectable! AST = 20 and ALT = 11. After living with the disease for 20+ years, it feels weird for it to be gone. For me, the 1 year labs are the big test. For now it's time to get on with life without HepC.
Cheers,
Gail

I've been lurking around here lately. Seeing lot's of new "faces." For all you newbies out there and those on treatment, keep your eyes on the prize. The folks here are terrific and I couldn't have gotten through tx without you!
