2 days of hell

The last couple of days have been pure hell from itching final my GI called in a script for me (Hydroxyzine HCL 25mg) it seems to help a little but not all the way so I'm debating whether or not to take 2 tablets every 8 hours If it wasn't for the severe itching I would be felling ok a little tired still but ok....just want this unbearable itching to be gone gone gone I just cry so hard because of it and beg out loud to stop, at a cool bath help for awhile but not the relief I'm looking for. I will be so thankful when this Incevik is out of my system

I understand mine is 25mg as well but every 8 hours I as well am good size woman but taking 2 has seem to do the trick for me give the itching is gone completely I won't need to take the 2 tablets every time I figure I will go back down to the 1 if needed or none at all as long as I don't have any itching. Only taking if I need to... so far so good it has worked

My husband's prescription for Hydroxyzine is 25 mg. 1-2 tablets every 6 hrs. as needed.  He is a big guy though, so I don't know if his prescription is based on size/weight.

I tried the blue sunburn gel with lidocaine in it as it cools and numbs the itching for a short while and after scratching it was painful too.  Otherwise I also was given hydrocortisone 2.5% and then betamethasone 0.1% (both are prescription strength)  I also found Benadryl helped alot but the tablets do make you drowsy.

I've tried pretty much everything except the Eucerin cream thanks I'm on my way now to go and get some. Aveeno bath other ointments etc... nothing worked.Plus I am going to step it up to two tablets where as one just doesn't cut... even tho my script say's one but being only 25 mg well 50mg won't kill me :-)

You may want to try triamcinolone topical.  0.025% ointment for itching
Triamcinolone is a topical steroid. It reduces the actions of chemicals in the body that cause inflammation, redness, and swelling.
Just something on my list of meds that I'm preparing for when I start my tx. Ask your Dr. about it.

Of course it's probably best to ask your doctor, but my husband's prescription for Hydroxyzine is 2 tablets, so he takes it "as needed" and when he is having an especially tough time with itching interfering with sleeping, he takes it before he goes to sleep.  I have heard some people on this forum say that ice packs, standing in front of the open freezer door, standing outside for a minute or two, keeping your skin lotioned up, and drinking lots of water helps.  Have your tried the anti itch ointment Triamcinolone?  It is a prescription that seems to help my husband's itching.  He has also used Eucerin cream and Eucerin body wash, which seems to help.
