2 weeks post TX and all skin rashes are still here

Hi everyone,

I'm 2 weeks post TX and all my skin rashes (around lips corner, both sides of forehead, side o the neck and shoulder, front neck, close to both elbows, side of the legs) everything is still here and itchy. It was getting better at some point then all the sudden its flare up again. If I put Clobetasol Prop. Ointment helps a lot and almost clears out, but its hormonal and can't be used or long time and on big areas...

Also, I developed nose bleeding during my last 2 months of TX. Its getting better now, but again can start bleeding unexpectedly.

I'm not mentioning that both tips of my nipples are darkened (sometimes like almost black), it happened 4 months ago and sometimes extremely itchy too. I went to gynecologist, who said that had no idea what is it and sent me to oncologist. Oncologist offered me a biopsy (not sure if he knew what was wrong with me either), but GI told me that for next 3 -6 months I can have any types  of surgeries. Had to cancel and now I'm watching it...

About 3 months ago I started to have a random sharp pain in my bladder (6 months ago I had a few weeks when I started thinking that I've got problems with kidneys - I felt them, they were not in pain but rather in dull pulling down feeling. Weird). (Went to Gyn to be sure that its not the OTHER problem). Pain comes and goes. Now after the treatment pain suddenly came back. There are no pain during urinating, no burning. But I'm running to the bathroom more often now. And it seems that I can not to hold for as long as I used to. Its like always so urgent... Pain and uncomfortable feeling mostly when I'm sitting. Also swelling of ankles - never has before in my life. Made appointment to see Urologist. But I'm not sure if he knows anything about interferon/riba tx and post-treatment recovery.

My eyes are still have that blurry vision, although I can finally drive at night, those other car's light doesn't blind me anymore. (Apparently I need glasses, could be fro treatment? Never had that problem before... But I was told its an age thing. 40...)

Seasonal allergies adds to that too.

I have Reinald syndrome. Now its getting worse. My under skin vessels are really start showing off. I don't think I will dressing anything except pants from now on. The skin around my finger nails are redden, swollen, my finger joint feels like swollen (arthritis?). I'm trying to apply Tee tree oil, to see if its help.

On top of everything I had a very unpleasant cough while on meds. Now its clears out, almost completely. But two months before ending of tx I fell down on brick steps. Was sent for X-ray b/c couldn't move for 3 days. Result: a broken back rib and something in my lungs. Was sent to do CAT scan. Apparently I have "innumerable sub centimeter pulmonary nodules nonspecific in appearance". As pulmonary Doctor told me that he can't send me for PET scan or biopsy me, b/c there are too small and there are more risk in complications than research. Now I have to wait 3-4 months for a repeat CAT scan. If they stay the same than there is a possibility that I may have them all me life (praying for it), but I will need to repeat it for a couple of years to be sure. If they getting bigger that means more tests and ... I don't think there are much treatments for lung decease (usually its all quite quickly) and they all, meds, tend to harm liver great deal.

So, my question is ppl.: what about you? How long after the TX all skin rashes and itch clears out (if its will happened at all). Sometimes I thing interferon/riba breaks down immune system and all "dark sides" of our body pops up. Most of them stays: my friend got thyroid from now on, another one - stones and etc. So rashes is my karma now? Any ideas?

one thing that really helped me, that didn't involve steroid creams, was I started adding olive oil to my baths. I used to just shower..but found if I took a bath instead 2 or 3 times a week, a tepid bath, it would sooth my skin..which had little rash but crawled all over.

The 2 teaspoons of olive oil would coat me and keep my skin happy for 2 or 3 days.
Plus what you absorb is good for you.

Be careful though it might be risky if you don't have a non-slip surface...

it was hard for me to get out of the slippery tub, so I switched to just showering andthen rubbing myself down with the oil while still warm and wet...it takes very little to cover the skin completely when you are still wet...but it gives just a very fine layer this way, not thick, like it would if you wer dry. Then just pat yourself dry to not remove it all.

I saved the steroid cream for a couple of real hard spots under my breasts, due to sagging moisture was greatest here, and this rash would not clear without a little help..
but I alternated between the steroid cream and just a tripleanti-biotic cream so as to reduce the amount of steroids absorbing into my liver. And in my case, this cleared up the two raw spots I had, and the olive oil cleared up everything else.

Its called herbs for health, the secret ointment from golden pride/Rawliegh .... It is meant for minor artrictic pain but works great on the riba rash, takes away the itching within 15 minutes and the red spots start to disappear within a few days

And that mixture goes all over body (that will be not enough, though, lol) or on specific rash patches areas?

Before bedtime? How many times a day?

I'm so sorry you are having so much trouble....it does take a toll this tx..but usually thing do clear up.

I fell also and one kidney has been sore off and on since, and infected once...and 4 bladder infections during tx...so some of the same stuff happens...just everybody has their own weaker areas.

the rash I would think would clear as the riba clears..but it takes along while for riba to clear...up to 6 months...although, if your kidneys were impacted than clearance would be slower still..and you may have had a greater riba buildup but your monthly test should have shown if your kidney function was normal.

On the other hand, yes autoimmune stuff kicks in as do other conditions because the immune system has been so overtaxed first by the HCV and then by the tx...it sounds like maybe you were having a little psoriasis kick in...or maybe shingles...what exactly did they give you the cream for? Did they ever identify just what it was? Not all rashes are purely a "riba rash"...sometimes the tx can trigger psoriasis or even shingles.
With psoriasis it can be more noticable at the elbos and joints can become inflamed and arthritis if it isn't treated properly. You are right though, the embrel is liver toxic, however the steroid creams are also. You need to use  it regulatly but also them sparingly to really clear a condition. The best thing is to apply the cream, then wrap the area in cellophane for 30 minutes..it helps the cream penetrate and for the dead cells to slough off.

No, I'm not taking right now anything, but Zyrtec. I was on Zyrtec all 12months of treatment. Plus, I was taking Advil for muscle pain. Other than that nothing.

Normally, I am allergic to Codeine and Novocaine.
