Sorry to hear that your levels are rising. Did the Doc say anything about what could be done about it or are you going to just continue on and see what the next test says? Whatever happens I will keep good thoughts that levels start to drop for you. Are you on inteferon and rivarin? Maybe you need to up the dose of one or the other? Please let us know how you make out.

Oh my God I am so sorry you must be feeling exactly like I would be.  There are no words except hang in there...time to figure out the next move!

Look at someone like Cuteus who refused to give up...and what she has now!

My prayers are with you.

real sorry, that is a hugh disapointment. i think i would now get a biopsy to see how bad it is and if there is an option to await new drugs or try whatever is on the table now.
good luck, our prayers are with you.

Awwww Maaaaannnnnn......

What a dissappointment. Know that you are in my thoughts.

Obviously, a change is needed. I would not stop tx abruptly without first talking about changing interferons, etc. with either your current doc or another.

You may consider emailing Dr Cecil for an opinion.

MAN AT LEAST GET A SECOND OPINION... SOMEONE AT A LARGE HOSPITAL...of course a hepatologist...they may know how to get you the infergen...for non responders...

THE BEST THING TO DO WOULD BE START INFERGEN AND SEE IF THAT GETS IT DOWN...BUT YOU GOTTA DO SOMETHING STRONGER NOW...

don't forget the meds are stong/cause there own problems so staying on for 24 more weeks if its not working is probably not very wise...not that i wouldn't give it a couple more months if that's all the choice i had...

YOU REALLY SHOULD GET THAT BIOPSY...they are not that bad as long as it is ultrasound guided by an experienced hepatologist... cause if you have a stage 0-1 than you will know how serious to be about continueing.

will he let you do extended treatment if you show clear on your next pcr. you could go a year past your first clear...by the way i certainly wouldn't wait too long to get the next pcr...you gotta keep an eye on it...it should be long gone by now...

my prayers are with you, may God bless you and heal you!

Thank you all for the encouragement. The doc just told me he thinks I should finish the 48 (some people still clear, good for me ol liver cells, blah, blah)/  He wont up my Pegasys and I cannot get any other interferon in Costa Rica.  He will do a biopsy if I push it, but doesnt think its necessary.
Still cannot decide...

I agree with the others who are urging you to get a biopsy.  Personally, I think everyone should have one before making any treatment decisions.  If you have mild damage, it's reasonable (especially in your case) to wait for a new treatment protocol.

I don't understand your doctor's recommendation to go for 48 weeks with a treatment that clearly isn't working for you.  What sense does it make to have you run such a grueling race when the odds for SVR look pretty slim?

Try not to get too discouraged by this setback.  Re-group and chart a new course: start with a second opinion, then schedule a biopsy, and then make a final decision with this important information.

Good luck to you.  Things will get better.

the meds are no longer working on your virus, as shown  by the increase instead of decrease of the VL.  Was the test done at the same lab and with the same range as the 12 wk one? If it was, then nothing is going to change if the dosages are the kept the same. No reason to continue with these toxins, if your liver damage is not severe, see about a biopsy. If you are at stage 3 or above, you need more aggressive tx. Even if you continue on present meds to try and  reverse the damage, I don't see how you will, given the fact that they are not affecting the virus significantly.  It is time for a change, drs, meds or both. Please get a bx or a fibroscan if available.

The only reason it may seem like I'm not posting as often lately is because I recently started a new job and I don't have as much opportunity anymore to post during the week. That's why most of my recent posts have been on the weekends.

I'm glad you find my posts so entertaining.  I wish I could say the same about your input.
